Interesting maps. I wonder they're fact-checked at all. For instance, are we sure Ewell street outside Coldwater, Kansas, i.e. basically the middle of nowhere, is named after a Confederate corps commander, or after Bob Ewell, who used to own the dairy on that road?

I know "Robert E. Lee Lane" on the map in Steamboat Springs, Colorado is technically named after the steamboat Robert E. Lee, not the general. It's surrounded by Memphis Belle Court, Delta Queen Drive and Mark Twain Lane. (Not saying it's any more OK or any less stupid, just saying that's how it got the name.)

Correct on Robert E. Lee Lane and the others in Steamboat Springs.

It's definitely not comprehensive, either. I noticed there's a "Ewell" in Gettysburg. But that's the only noted "Confederate" name in the area when there are obviously more, albeit names more likely to be standard, Gordon, Rodes, Early, etc. Lord knows how many "Jackson Ave." there are in the world, and how many are named for Stonewall.

I doubt the lists are exhaustive and 100% on point, but I'd say it's safe to say there are a bunch.

It's been satisfying to see her labeled as the face of evil. She's an everymeangirl.

    From the dude half:

"I am hoping to meet with him soon to express my sincere apology and to ask for his forgiveness and guidance in helping me begin the journey towards being a kinder, more thoughtful and sensitive person."

Oh. My. God. This is what is wrong with most white allyship. It's not his job to teach you how to be a decent human being, you mouth-breathing, booger-eating, product of married hippie siblings. Going to stifle the urge to rant about Nashville SURJ.

When it happens, it's usually women. Not going to do cites right now.

Black Peter needs to go. He's a relic of earlier times just like the stock minstrel characters in the U.S. I know people sometimes conflate that tradition with the blackened faces of some Morris Dance characters. The difference is Zwarte Piet was supposed to be a Spanish Moor and the black faces in Morris Dance tradition are references to coal miners.

I always liked Krampus better anyway and was disappointed we got lame old Santa every year. Bite me, Thomas Nast.

    Who is serving whom?

Megamarket had generics that were even plainer than that. We loved to use them for Sensitive Artistic Statements at Memphis State. ("Am I this can of soup or am I an INDIVIDUAL? You, so wrapped up in the Man's Game, you only see a plain white label. I am CAMPBELLS! I AM CAMPBELLS CHICKEN SOUP WITH STARS!")
