This guy wants a place of honor for the founder of the KKK? And there is a place, they’re called museums and history textbooks that teach the racism in the US. You know, where we put those things in context… douche.

What’s next, a Donald Trump statue in front of every police station in the U.S.?

McNally is a fucktard. That's why he's Lt. Gov. of the state shitbirds.

Tennessee’s Black legislative caucus has been particularly vocal about how painful it has been to walk by the bust, displayed prominently between the House and Senate chamber, as they carry out their work each day.

I will say this sentence from the story is a little over the top, or some folks overthink stuff they'd be better off ignoring.
I know why it was put there in the first place, but I don't know why it was put there in the first place.
I've walked past that bust probably 8-10 times in my life. The first time I noticed it - which may or may not have been the first time I walked past it - my thought was "That's weird." and then I never gave it another thought.
I'm for relocating it, but it's honestly no different than a fire extinguisher.

Except that the fire extinguisher isn't shaped into a bust with the name of a confederate general who then became the first grand wizard of the KKK under it, and the fire extinguisher serves a purpose that isn't to commemorate a confederate general who then became the first grand wizard of the KKK.

I'm guessing it is for the black legislators

My post clearly wasn't defending the bust. In fact, I thought it was pretty clear the other way. I even said I was for relocating it.
I guess I'm just very fortunate in that I have the ability to ignore inanimate objects.

I didn't say you were defending the bust.

I was just saying that objectively, a fire extinguisher is pretty innocuous. That bust? Even if 9 out of 10 people walk by it and have no clue who the guy is or don't look at it. ... it's shitty that it's there. When people walk by a fire extinguisher and don't notice it. ... it's just a fire extinguisher. When people don't walk by this and don't notice it. ... it's shitty that it's even there.

Try to put it in personal terms for yourself - What if it was a bust of your ex? Would you feel OK walking by it everyday? Or, would you notice it every time, and be unable to *not* see it from that point on?
