So Johnson is cool with the Covid misinformation, but the racial slur is a step too far? Good to know.

Perhaps it's a sign of our times, but damning a claim pointing to A and B as "Mostly False" by noting that while A and B were in there they weren't the only thing in there strikes me as some pretty weak tea.

So you’re saying the current and previous administrations have been doing this for years?

As is pointing those things out as if they were standalone programs meant to encourage drug addiction.

I'm saying nothing of the kind, as I have absolutely no idea. I am merely criticizing snopes' characterization of the charge. One might assert that the Affordable Care Act "legitimized" or "normalized" all sorts of quackery (e.g., homeopathy, chiropractic, etc.). Characterizing that assertion as "mostly false" because the ACA also did so many other things ...

My objection was narrowly focused ... besides, even if it weren't, it's only a very small part of my oeuvre! I've said so many other things!

The reason I posted the 'crack pipe' thing on the race thread should be pretty obvious.

Like 'welfare queen' there's a lot of racial coding around that phrase. Crack pipe. Which is why the media keeps repeating it. Crack pipe. It's a shorthand for a certain kind of addiction. Crack pipe. Really loaded.

What if they said 'meth pipe' or 'crank pipe,' which these days is truer and just as much a part of this particular harm-reduction program?

Opioid addiction in this country gets the Hillbilly Elegy treatment and a slow violin and our tax dollars can't get those Narcan pens into Appalachia fast enough.

'Crack pipe' means South-Central and a time machine back to 'Just Say No.'

Also see Obama Phones, which was actually a program dating back to 1985.
