    During Covid, I paid my loans down to exactly $10k to see what became of this decision.

    I didn't need the relief, and the government made a great investment in my student loans - I've already paid more than that $10,000 in increased taxes (from my newspaper salary to my current pay rate).

    Sure woulda been nice though!

    I think I know who the whistleblower was.

    De facto, you may be right, but we both know the Republican "Fuck You" Caucus would vote against funding a mission to stop an asteroid hurtling toward the Earth for fear it would be perceived as a legislative victory for the Democrats. I mean, those guys weren't above holding the entire economy hostage over the debt ceiling.

    That makes sense. I certainly don't have a problem with the Supreme Court ruling against it.

    So if somebody walks in wearing a MAGA hat … anywhere … they can be refused service by the same decision.

    Then offer the Republicans a deal on something else that makes them say yes to loan debt relief.

    Whaddya wanna bet there isn't one thing the Democrats want to trade off on to do that?

    I haven't read the dissent and frankly don't want to. I'd rather respect the person who wrote it more than I would after reading it. It was a laughable, divisive act when Biden proposed it. Risible, honestly.

    That's OK. He'll find another way around the GOP's paid-for Court.

    If there's no actual rule of law in this country, might as well lean into it.

    Did you learn nothing from Obamacare debates?

    You could offer Republicans whatever you'd like, and they'll keep moving the goal posts. The only closely held GOP belief is, "be against whatever Democrats are for."

    The GOP has no defined goals other than:

    We hate gays;
    We hate non-whites;
    we want to keep our money and don't want to pay any taxes;
    we are willing to forgive the sins of the rich white people and give them our votes so long as they tell us what we want to hear.
