Wow, this thread is pretty weak -- much worse than usual for an SEC gathering. Not that I've done anything to help it.

I'm guessing that will change, however, with the arrival of Lord Saban and his loyal subjects.

I think everyone's been lulled to sleep by Bobby Johnson. If it wasn't for Mike Slive, Johnson would be the least excited person behind the podium all week.

So from what I can read here, Day 1 of the much ballyhooed SEC Media Days was close to a totally snore-fest... an utter waste of time and your papers' money.
The hot topics seem to be the little college girls running around and the free food and other swag. Real major stuff there.

Yup, if you're not at Media Days your paper is a bush league fishwrap.

And even then, it's no guarantee...

Apparently Nick Saban's on a charm offensive...he opened with this (rough transcription, typing as he talks):

"I’d like to thank each and every one of you for the job that you do, the time you spend giving a lot of positive self-gratification back to college football and the players in the SEC. It’s great for our league, it’s great for college football, it’s great for our players and our fans, and I certainly do appreciate it."

Then he followed it with this bombshell:

"In some cases, you may know more about our team than we do."

Maybe he hit his head on something just before taking the podium. Maybe Slive hit him with a tranquilizer dart.

Sounds like his SID has been working on him.

    Thank you Lord Saban.

More positive self gratification. You think he'd be spent by now.

Have any of the fansite guys actually started to touch themselves?

That might be what Nick meant by "positive self-gratification."
