I love that the NHL just keeps shooting itself in the foot with its disciplinary issues. In no world should a player who bit (bit!) another player be eligible for the next game, and he's the one who goes on to score the game winner.

Is there anything Murphy or Campbell do that doesn't result in egg on the league's face?

Lose Game 1 in the final 20 seconds of regulation and Game 2 in the first 20 seconds of OT. Brutal. Will be interesting to see how Boston looks early in Game 3.

    Fuck.
    My.
    Life.

Burrows should have never been in there, true, but when it happened, I assumed the NHL would pussy out because it's the Cup final, and I was right. I guess you have to actually have the finger completely severed. Then this trash Lapierre sticks his finger in Bergeron's mouth. No-class trash.

We'll see next year when Brendan Shanahan becomes the league's discipline czar.

So a guy who shouldn't have been allowed to play is the decisive player in Game Two of a best-of-seven championship final.

NHL and its fans have no business pointing fingers at any other league, for anything.

Burrows scored the first goal of the game, too, let's not forget.

Can we stop the whining about Burrows and whether he should have been suspended.

Nathan Horton scored the OT winner against TB in game seven and should have probably been suspended for his water bottle incident from game six. And there was a precedent for that.

The Canucks won because they were a better team, Thomas was soft, couldn't control rebounds and Burrows did a Sittler on him (see Canada Cup 76)

When you get a goalie like Thomas who comes way out of the blue crease to challenge a shooter, you fake the shot and go around him.

Edit: Julien on Burrows escaping suspension and scoring winner: "If we start using that as an excuse, we're a lame team.

Well, that has much to about nothing. What exactly are you talking about?

Assisted on the tying goal as well.

Don't forget about the first period promo (at least on NBC) of one Sedin introducing his brother and then the vegetarian Alex Burrows. and Lapierre shoving a finger at Bergeron's mouth.

I might ask you the same thing.

"Well, that has much to about nothing."

    Um, what?

He's come up with some reasonable ideas over his time in the league's front office, but I worry he's just as compromised in his objectivity by having close ties to players all over the freaking league and various front offices. Say, for a completely unreasonable example, Lidstrom purposefully spears someone in the nuts in next year's playoffs, is he really going to have the guts to give him a few games? I don't know.

He hasn't done anything completely hypocritical like Campbell or Murphy yet, so at least it's a clean slate. I'd honestly rather see a former referee in that role (and have a former referee oversee the game-to-game refereeing instead of having Campbell chime in on it when he has no background and no objectivity), but I'll give Shanahan a chance before I lump him in with the current two buffoons.

JR - Horton should have been suspended as well (another Murphy decision of idiocy). The issue isn't that the Canucks shouldn't have won the game because they obviously did, and you play with the hand your dealt even when it's the result of terrible decision making somewhere else. Honestly, I would much rather the practice rink crush both of these teams to death before I favor either one in this series.

But you cannot escape the fact Burrows, like Horton, had no business playing in this game after biting another player.
