When I read an analysis like that, I am:

    1. Awed (sincerely) that people have the ability to see things like that, and
    2. Glad I am not that smart, because I am sure I would rarely enjoy any movie or television show.

I liked last night's installment, but I'm fairly easy to please.

    Wasn't Jenna Fischer great, too?

  4. If I didn;t think Sorkin was enormously talented, I wouldn't watch his stuff as closely as I do.

I had the same problem. The reason this occurred was because S60 was listed in the channel menu as "Repeat" even though it wasn't. As such, my DVR didn't pick it up because I have it set to record "new episodes only."

Interestingly enough, I was finally getting a chance to see last week's episode while this week's wasn't recording.

I'm mildly upset over this as I enjoy S60.

I'm gonna miss the show. Dammit. LOL moment from the show: "Excuse me, eyes front."

The more I think about it, the more I think they wasted the whole effort on a backstage drama.

This cast could have pulled off something more ambitious that might have connected better with viewers.

As long as it wasn't a medical show, a law office show or a police procedural.

    A western, perhaps ...

Perhaps this was the episode where the actors realized the show was circling the drain. It appears Sorkin was attempting to push subplots and "get everything in" before the show wrapped for good.
    I hated the "witty" by-play between Matt and the femalawyer; and the "intervention" scenes between Matt and his assistant and Danny; the female writer's scenes; the "breaking news";
I hated the "ethical" dilemma about whether Simon and Harry should talk to Rob Corrdrey's character; I hated that all of the sudden the Studio 60 show has gone from "rejuvenated" to "ratings challenged", hated the still pregnant Peet, and especially hated the very unfunny skits.
I was surprised nobody mentioned that they might have wanted to cut the "news conference" skit from the West Coast feed, I hated that too..
Watching this episode makes it much easier to say good bye. How many episodes left?

I know they didn't realize there would be this giant break in the season when they filmed it, but this drama feels ridiculous after becoming totally detached from the show during the long break. And because we know the show has no future, I found myself thinking, "I'd really care about this, if I didn't know the show would be over within the next month."

And honestly, I thought the show was really bad until the final 15 minutes.

My TiVo didn't record it either, however I was fortunate to have caught it 10 minutes in.

I understand what you're saying. But are you talking about (in the Sports Night ep) Dan's speech about his brother, or Casey's interjection at the end about the Starland Vocal Band?

I didn't think it was a very good episode. In fact, the one the previous week - without three of its main characters - was better.

I never saw The West Wing, so I'm not as Sorkin-biased (although I did like Sports Night).

One of the main problems of this show - I mean, besides it being canceled - is chemistry.

The Matt and Harriet characters - no chemistry. Witty dialogue does not make up for this. (Problem, since many storylines feed off this)

Jordan and Danny characters - no chemistry. Witty dialogue does not make up for this. In fact, this relationship seems the more unreal of the two, for many reasons.

Now, Matt and Danny together - chemistry. Witty dialogue enhances this relationship.

Plus, I still think Amanda Peet is/was horrible in this role.

And for a stand-up comic, D.L. Hughley has horrible timing reading those news pieces (check that last episode).
