That's my point. It's a subjective thing. You are welcome to your opinion. Obviously, plenty of people share it or this show wouldn't be headed for oblivion. But don't tell me my opinion isn't legitimate just because you disagree. I have enjoyed the last two episodes more than most of the series. I did like the dialogue and the performances by the actors. Even Peet wasn't awful, and I've never really liked her on the show.

And my point with the personal story -- I was trying to illustrate why I thought the way the final hospital scene was written and performed was perfect and realistic. The mother-to-be just wants to listen to the doctor and have the baby as soon as possible. The father-to-be is defensive and focused more on protecting his wife/girlfriend/fiancee than anything, but in the end he really has no say and he just has to go along.

Yes, identifying with the scene was part of why I liked it. But it also rang very true, especially the expression on Whitford's face at the end of it.

  2. If the singularly awful Joshua Malina shows up, I'm coming to Hollywood angry.

The episode list on Wikipedia's Studio 60 page has brief summaries on the rest of the shows. I won't drop any spoilers, other than to say that a flashback episode dealing with Matt and Danny's earlier firing from the show is evidently in the soup. That could be good, and you figure that Judd Hirsch will be making another appearance.

I figured he would be the father of Peete's baby or some such.

Wasn't Trask, the company that may help spring Tom's brother, the same company Melanie Griffith worked for in Working Girl?

  6. I'm of two minds on this show:

Anytime Matt and Harriet deal with their relationship, it's unwatchable crap.
When the show focuses on something else --- anything else, really --- it's damn near brilliant.

Last night, just when I found myself thinking, "Gee, it's too bad this show is going away," Harriet would pop up and I'd want to stab someone. I think Sorkin, good as he is, may have created the singularly most annoying character in television history.

Is it possible that says more about you than it does the character?

I give him some credit for trying. My fear was that the highest-profile Christian character I can think of on TV right now would be made to look silly. I think we've avoided that, and I find it remarkable, really.

The best payoff of that character probably did come last night in the montage of their ongoing argument. It would have had more impact, surely, if there was more chemistry evident between the two characters.

If you could recast Harriet, who would you choose?

Jennifer Aniston occurs to me, if only because we know she and Perry have chemistry.

Maybe Peete was cast in the wrong role, but it would have been impossible to work that character once she got pregnant.

I thought Thursday's episode was outstanding... I'm going to miss this show...

  9. HejiraHenry:

Maybe it does say something about me, I don't know. But in any event, my problem is not with the actress, who I've enjoyed in previous roles ("Deadwood," for example), but with the character. And even on "Studio 60," she's fine as long as she's not whining about her relationship with Matt. Matt and Harriet should never appear in a scene together again, but I guess we won't have to worry about it since the show is going away.

Maybe he needs to stay farther away from the semi-autobiographical stuff. Wasn't that relationship supposed to be based on him and the tiny little blonde from The West Wing?

When you see Kristin Chenowith - you know that there is indeed a God. Chick can sing too.

Generally agree, though his first appearance on TWW -- when he kept a campaign for a dead guy going -- was one of the highlights of Season 4.
