I can see how people would react that way. I spent a lot of years around "churchy" people and have a seen a lot of things like that or in the ballpark, so I didn't bat an eye. And what you said may be exactly what Sorkin is doing, but it wasn't out of kilter with some of the experiences I've had around Christians, especially fundamentalist and speaking-in-tongues-on-the-spur-of-the-moment Christians.

This might sound surprising since a) I don't like Harriett, and b) I am Jewish....but I drew some comfort from her act of prayer at the end of the show. While I personally wouldn't follow suit, it worked for me that she would feel prayer could help the situation. I also liked Matt giving God a jingle too.

I'm as critical as anyone else about this show, but for a different reason. I truly enjoy it and am upset it's going away. I have found the post-break episodes to be extremely compelling. Unlike some others on this board, I don't watch shows I don't like. I spend my limited free time watching shows that provide me with some sort of mental stimulation. And this show does it for me almost every week.

    I LIKED the Matt-Harriet montage.

    Shoot me if you must.

No argument from me. They managed to sum up in less than a minute why Matt and Harriet couldn't make it work.

And for those who say people don't drop to their knees and pray publicly like Harriet did, all I can say is you clearly have not met my mother.

Well, I haven't met your mother...or Ted's kids' mother, for that matter (though given the women he pulls on on that show, I'm sure I'd like to) .....but that didn't strike me as one bit out of character.

Nice name check on Ted's future wife Outofplace, good work by you.
I like the episode. At first I cringed when she stopped to pray, but then I realized it was perfectly in character, so I was fine with it.
This show, this show I'm going to miss.

Just watched Thursday's show. It was very good, though I thought the Harriet kneeling and vocally praying in the intro was tres cliche (all you needed was her kneeling and her head bowed). I did like the Harriet-Matt argument montage. I thought the dialogue was crisp and well paced.

However, my biggest beef with the episode is that it was a West Wing episode. Somebody gets kidnapped, somebody else has a baby. It's boilerplate. Very, very good boilerplate, but boilerplate nonetheless.

I will miss this show dearly when it goes off the air, but I can see why it wasn't renewed. Hopefully, Sorkin won't be off TV for long.

That may be what I don't agree with. If Sorkin can't keep from spoiling the possibilities of this premise with his political rhetoric, maybe I don't need to see any more from Aaron Sorkin for a while.

And believe me, I thought the premise of the show was very strong. It just loses steam when the debate becomes about hostages and not about putting out a comedy show on Friday night.

I forget, maybe it was mentioned in an early episode, but why was Mark McKinney's character so glum earlier in the series? Did his wife and kid die or did his wife just leave him? I don't recall, but it was kinda strange to see his character smiling and laughing.

The wife and kid died, in an auto accident I believe.

More proof of the show's demise....I had to go to page five to find it this morning.

Now I'm just hoping they settle some of these plotlines before the show goes off for good.
