Look, I don't have any problem with political arguments...I wouldn't have 2,800 posts on this site if I couldn't stand listening to other people discuss politics.

It's when one side writes both sides' lines and keeps all the good arguments to itself -- AND masquerades as "politically relevant" entertainment -- that I start having a problem.

    "Face facts. It works."

You might have missed it, given that it was delivered under his breath while walking out the door...

I remember that. It's funny -- we definitely had different impressions of this show. I thought Sorkin was working pretty hard to convey distaste for the practice of paying for hostages. The only people in favor of it are the irrational, fear-crazed folks from the show; the Air Force captain, who is smart and self-controlled, made a bunch of good arguments against it.

Hmmm...maybe it was my mind playing tricks on me and I didn't enjoy it. ::)

Or perhaps...just maybe...the people who don't like the show should STOP WATCHING! Hell, everybody else apparently already figured that out, which is why it's going off the air.

Nobody said you did. You do have a problem with not having your voice heard when you believe an argument is faulty.

With that, I guess you don't watch any show with any politics involved what-so-ever.

So, with that, I'll revise my statement:
You hate the way Sorkin argues politics. You can't separate Sorkin from the characters. Thus, you hate the show.

Yep. That's me to a tee. You got me.

    M_W --

I took the line on a more meta level than that.

I think I left my meta running.

I just enjoy how M_W hates the show, but still watches it. Even to the point of rewinding the show so he can transcribe key pieces of dialogue, just so he can rip it on a message board.
    That's kinda weird man.
And with 24 being the exception, can anyone remember a show that had the last four hours and the upcoming finale basically be in real-time?
From a writing standpoint, that's pretty impressive. A five-part episode takes a long time to get to the payoff, but it has been good to watch. As a fan, I feel like it has been a reward to those who have kept up.
Weber has been a revelation, the look on his face after he remembers how things went down, and then Hughley's reaction when he realized what he thought had happened was actually wrong and much bigger things were at stake, was spectacular.
The reason why I said "ugh" was that if you look ahead, you'll see that one of plot points is Matt and Harriet geting back together, again.

Agreed on all of the above...particularly the Matt and Harriet thing.

    This, M_W, is reassuring.

Because it was really beginning to sound like we weren't.

And I'm glad they're going to get Matt and Harriet together again, too. So the nay-sayers are going to have to deal with that, too. :p

You're telling me. But hey, it's my time, right?

And shotty, you've gotta be kidding me.
