Busfield is really good in his (limited) role. I haven't enjoyed him so much onscreen since Revenge of the Nerds.

Great, great line from Whitford, talking about the shocking possibility of drug use in late-night comedy: "Um, the Coneheads? Toonces, the Driving Cat? You think Belushi and Farley died from Lou Gehrig's Disease."

That, and there was one of those Sorkin/Schlamme walking-and-talking shots where Matthew Perry and the main white guy from the show itself walked all the way through the studio backset in a single take. Still not sure how they pull those off, and I'm sure it's lost on a big chunk of their audience, but I had to TiVo and back up and watch it again.

And if a writer rips off somebody's stuff verbatim like that, you don't stand by him. You let him go. It's not solidarity to not name him; it's stupidity. There's no level of workplace stress that justifies taking somebody else's joke and making it your own.

But the writers couldn't name names at that point.

When Matt and Danny loved the bit, they said "the room" produced it. So when the shit hit the fan, "the room" had to take the blame. If they'd passed credit for the bit to that one writer, then blame could have been passed to him as well. Since they hadn't, they had to fall on that grenade as the leaders of "the room."

Good news for Studio fans -- ratings were up slightly this week.

    3.8 compared to last week's 3.5.

CSI: Miami still won the slot with a 5.9.

Studio's lead in, 'Heroes' also did a 5.9, I think.

I think Sorkin should send a gift to the Heroes folks for the good lead-in. I love Studio 60, but can see where it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. Laughed considerably when Matt Perry is ripping the pitcher. Alot of great lines in there.

Now, did anyone catch the playwright's name who wrote the play in which the husband goes insane? Sounded interesting, but I can't remember the name. Wanted to check it out.

August Strindberg. And the play they talk about is "The Father."

On a side note, I was glad to see the secretary from The Office (the brit version) as one of the writers. I had a huge crush on her when I watched that show.

Lucy Davis is a fine actress. She was great in The Office. But hot? Not so much.
