That is not good for S60. Not good at all.

Well, it's certainly not good news for anybody hoping it was going to stick in the Monday night slot.

But with S60 losing nearly half of its lead-in audience, something was bound to happen.

BTW, I read somewhere that NBc is basically locked in to having this go a full 13 episodes (there's a huge buyout in Sorkin and Schlamme's contracts if they don't) But I'm guessing it's going to move to another night.

Studio 60 wasn't scheduled to show a new episode that night.
The Tivo lookahead said it was going to be a repeat of the pilot. I assumed it had something to do with the World Series. Typically networks don't throw their best material out when they are programming against events like the Series or Super Bowl.
I continue to think that they'll keep it going for at least a couple of seasons, keep it on Monday night for now and see what happens with MNF goes away. And move it around next season. West Wing ended up being shown on three different nights in its run, so that's nothing unusual.

I actually think it's worse news for Friday Night Lights. It's sort of like NBC is saying, ok FNL, this is your last chance to catch on. You may be a critical darling, but if nobody is watching, we don't give a damn. Studio 60 will get a chance in a different time slot, and has too many high-profile, proven actors connected to it. FNL has really no one, not even Kyle Chandler, who people recognize right away. Plus, too many people think it's Dawson's Creek/Varsity Blues, even though it's nothing of the sort.

i like friday night lights. i'm surprised that i like it given that i'm 33 years old, don't have kids and haven't been around high school football players since covering preps four years ago. i wouldn't put it up there with the top shows of all time but despite the sapiness and cliches (like double down said - the making out in the rain), i'm interested in the characters. i will keep watching because i want to know what happens. i like the idea of the katrina refugee quarterback. that's a good story line. and now that jason street has been moved out of town what happens to laila and riggs?

studio 60, otoh, i'll keep tivo-ing it and watch it if i have some down time but i care much less about the characters. i wish it was more compelling but it's just not doing it for me. i wonder if there's just too much star power?

I've enjoyed the show, and I agree with most of that.

  12. This was an excellent point:

I wonder if the executives that greenlighted Joey and The Apprentice: Martha Stewart still draw paychecks?
