Heroes is tops with me, followed by The Nine, then Studio 60.

"Save the cheerleader, save the world" might be the funniest, but maybe not meant to be line in the history of broadcasting.
All I know is I have three shows that I tivo, but watch the same night: Lost, Battlestar and Studio 60.
Lost and Studio 60 are the only two current shows that when I get done watching, I will come here, find the thread and talk about the shows.

Perhaps, but not hearing of Abbott & Costello at all? That seems highly unlikely if you're of that age.

Somebody ask spnited's grandson about this, he should be in his 50s.

A good show, but definitely the worst episode thus far.

The last three weeks, I've thought that as the Studio 60 closing credits roll.

I don't know if that's good or not.

Luggie, I get that you don't like the show, but you're going to have to name a hell of a lot more shows that are better to get to 10 percent of what's on television.

The last two episodes really do feel a bit off the beat in the dialogue, and I'm wondering if that's intentional. I also wonder if this show can ever work, because I know I personally compare it with TWW, even though I know that's patently unfair.

I really have to remember to start a Battlestar Gallactica thread Friday night. I know a lot of people won't even give any show on the Sci-Fi channel a look, but they're missing out on a very well done show. My favorite show currently on television, tops on my list of sci-fi shows that I've seen.

Heroes is really growing on me, but I admit that just might be my inner sci-fi geek. I enjoy stuff like figuring out how characters' powers work as they learn themselves.

Maybe it is just my high expectations coming in for Studio 60, but so far Heroes is a pleasant surprise to me and Studio 60, while I enjoy it, is a mild disappointment. The West Wing comparisons really are unfair. It's not close. I still say it compares more closely to Sports Night.

Of course, these are people who can’t seem to fathom the concept that their own son is a well-paid star on a popular nationally broadcast network television program – who evidently are under the impression that he puts on ‘skits’ with his friends for little or no monetary compensation.

I gave up on Studio 60 last night. Shameless plug, I explain why on jmgee.blogspot.com.

Reader's Digest version: It just doesn't ring true.

Well, at least it beat fucking What About Brian this week:

And it's great to see Deal Or No Deal and Heroes taking a big bite out of CBS' tired Monday comedy block. Sunday Night Football is helping a lot, but NBC is finally showing signs of a comeback. And three of the peacock's more proven performers -- Scrubs, Medium and Las Vegas -- are coming off the bench.

It's great to see a game show taking a bite out of other prime-time viewing? OK.

That could only be topped by saying it was great to see a game show and a REALITY show taking a bite out of other prime-time viewing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: NBC sucks ass at scheduling.

What other network would take two proven shows, like Scrubs and Medium, and leave them out of a fall lineup instead of using those shows to attract audiences to the new shows? On top of that, who would try placing a costly-to-produce new series in the 10 p.m. slot against MNF?

Had they put S60 in the same time slot on Wed. nights, it would be raking in an unbelievable audience at this point. Then, you take Medium, stick it in the 8 p.m. slot as a lead-in to Heroes and you've bettered the audience there.

When are these people gonna figure out that you can't beat football? You've got one shot to grab an audience on Monday night -- the early time slot. After that, you can forget it.

As for S60, great acting, solid writing. I don't know how you can legitimately ask for more. I think the biggest problem most people have with this is its subject -- TV. As several other shows have proven over the years, people just don't care about the inner workings of TV. Doesn't matter how well the show is written or who's doing the acting, people just don't care. At least, not enough to make it into a meaningful drama. A comedy, yes. People will laugh at the egos and eccentric personalities, but they'll never take them serious.

Because it's Sorkin, people expect this show to be as meaningful as The West Wing. It's never going to be and it's unfair to think it might. You can take a president, give him lines about the rights and wrongs in the country and it comes off as relevant. But you take those lines, or lines similar, and hand them to a TV exec who's discussing the world of TV, it comes off as self-appreciating and egotistical. TV people will hate his guts for criticizing them and the rest of the country will view it with indifference. I don't know how many of these shows it's going to take for Sorkin to understand this. If the goal here is to entertain, I think he's doing that pretty well. If it's to spread a meaningful message that will prompt people to call him a genius, he should've written the UN show.
