This show has to be the most expensive therapy session ever.

    No. Don't want to.

That's the kind of overthinking which makes some people dislike the show. Put WW out of your mind and enjoy this show on its own merit.

The problem is that the show has no merit of its own if every episode is an old West Wing plot moved out of DC and into California. The gay-marriage subplot was just stupid and inappropriate, like Perry talking about Strindberg a few weeks back, and further proof that Paulson's character is just never going to work.

The tension within the show is too serious, forced and contrived. It's a TV show about a TV show. Yes, people can get very uptight when it's their jobs on the line, but they treat the production of a TV show as if it's as important as Social Security reform or, as has been referenced, affordable college tuition. I like the show, I like some of the characters, but it takes itself way way too serious

From my limited experiences with Hollywood types, they do seem to take themselves and their business way, way too seriously.

But do any of the other towns have a name as funny as Pahrump?

I was disappointed they failed to mention Art Bell, who was Pahrump's most famous citizen until he moved to the Philippines.

Well, at least we now know why Bell's Dad had to yell "And your little brother is standing in the middle of Afghanistan!" at the top of his lungs a couple weeks back.

Not sure the payoff was worth it, though.

Overall, a good episode, though I must say that this plot might have made one really great episode instead of two good ones.

As others have said, two good ones is still okay by me.

I can see what you're saying about the plot only being worthy of one show, but I think the character development we got out of both (for example: seeing a human side to Rudolph and him actually pulling for Jordan, Dylan's confidence or lack thereof) plus a stellar performance by Goodman (loved the HeeHaw line referring to the rest of America between 5th Avenue and the Hollywood Bowl) made the two episodes worthwhile.

I thought the British writer's bad breakup with her boyfriend came out of the blue, however.

Where have Ricky and Ron been?

It has seemed like he's struggling to develop some characters. He brings them in, gives them a little back story, then forgets them for 2-3 episodes.

It's like the fat kid on the cast. He's introduced as a bit of an asshole in Episode 1; comes back last night with a few more layers, like he has trouble being himself in front of the camera. May not see him against until Episode 11.

I think that gets answered next week.

Next week's teaser (from TV.com): Word of Ricky and Ron planning to leave the show along with the writing staff causes trouble at Studio 60. Meanwhile, Harriet considers doing a sexy lingerie spread in a magazine and Jordan and Danny wrestle with pending budget cuts.
