I absolutely hate the stalkerish vibe coming from Danny.

Same here. It was cute in the Christmas episode, but it turned creepy tonight.

It's real, though, no? Isn't that kind of a trait of an addictive personality, to be obcessive?

Just started watching Monday's episode now (3:15 a.m. EST) on my Tivo. Proof that my sleep schedule is fucked up beyond comprehension.

And perhaps it's the lateness of the hour that's lowered my tolerance, but sweet Jesus, this show is preachy. The West Wing was bad, but at least that show was (ostensibly) ABOUT politics. This is supposed to be a show about...television? Entertainment? Comedy? Relationships? Something, presumably.

Instead, it's a chance for Aaron Sorkin to make his ex-girlfriend sound like a bitch and, incidentally, to re-use some of his favorite talking points from projects past.

Again, maybe it's just me, but isn't the constant sermonizing hard to take? It's not even compelling political talk...it's an imitation of it. It's pretty easy to win an argument, after all, when you get to write both sides' lines and keep all the good ones for your side.

    Bleh.

I thought the episode was a disappointment, especially coming off such a strong Christmas show.

tony raised a good point about Danny's potential obsession/addiction personality, but I thought Matt's thing with the auction bids was even more annoying.

And if I were Darius, I would have punched Simon.

While I have agreed in spirit with some of your criticism, I am interested in which parts of last night's episode you found particularly preachy.

I thought Darius's response was perfect. And Simon's response to that showed a potential for being an arrogant prick at times.

I thought the bid thing got a bit out of hand, but it fits the character and given that there is a history and an ongoing connection between the characters it made sense.

The stuff with Danny is fast approaching restraining order territory. It's not cute or funny or entertaining, even if I can see how it might be realistic.

Yeah, it was hard to watch him seem like such a loser...

I'm not sure I'm watching the same show as others. I loved this ep, along with nearly every one they've aired. I think if you go in looking for "constant sermonizing," that's what you'll find. Just sit back, relax and watch the show. Stop looking for subtext.

Honestly, I think Killick nailed it there. This might be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

This coming from a guy who loves Sorkin's work so much that he'd willingly quit his job to become Sorkin's pool boy.

(for the record. . . I like the show too).

I love the show. I'm not going to obsess over anything that was also done on The West Wing or Sports Night or whatever...

I just want this show to last and I'm worried that it's not going to.

I just read in EW that Friday Night Lights is likely to be canceled as well. It would be a crime to lose two of the best new shows of the season...
