Sweet Jesus. (Or, to pay tribute to my friend F_B, "Jesus wept.")

I mentioned this before, but lighten up. Also, I'm guessing you knew what I meant, despite my inexcusable misuse of the word monologue.

As for me, I liked West Wing all right, though -- obviously -- it suffered from the same Sorkinania that makes Studio 60 a frustrating exercise for me. But there's no question the guy's a talented storyteller, especially when he can keep his ego under wraps.

    And Zeke: Indeed. [/omar]

Uh, not really. And I'm not trying to pick a fight, here, Wing. Your problem as stated before was these monlogues. Well, there aren't (many -- Hirsch again). So, your problem seems to be with the views the characters hold. Or Sorkin's ego. Or... what, exactly? I don't get it. Just don't understand. Is it the tone? Is it because characters delve into such esoteric subjects (a few eps back, there was a whole discussion of Moliere, I think)? Just not every-man enough? That's why when I read your posts and references to the ill-fated "monologues" and "rants," I'm puzzled. I don't see them as such. Asner's "rant," for example, was a clear, succinct statement that he's been waiting for this fight. Pretty mild for a "rant."

... (adding this) And how do you see Sorkin's ego dominating the show? Puzzled by that, too.

As for the WW-S60 correlation, I must admit I was a huge fan of WW. There were some duds in there, but also some of the best screenwriting I've ever seen. Was somewhat disappointed in the S60 opening, because I was expecting the same and believed the preseason hype NBC was pumping out. Still, I've come to really like the show. One of the few TV appoinment shows on my sked.

They gotta rein in the romance arcs and get back to the show a little. A whole episode about a Monday when the shows runs Friday nights? If it slows the time element down anymore, Jack Bauer will lap the whole gang. Just thought this episode had a lot less to it, for the first show in like six weeks, anyway.

Yes, I've got to agree with that ... I would like the show to be a bit more show-oriented now.

I think that it is smart not to base each episode on the one week arc of putting on a new show, especially because most of the jokes are awful. However, based on the previews, it looks like the next two episodes are about the dinner in honor of Harriet, so that's three hours devoted to four days.

I thought that the episode was just OK. The Danny thing was certainly a little creepy. And the Simon things was somewhat interesting.

I don't care to much about the preachiness of it as I do this. Obviously in any show the writer is writing for both sides, but he completely slants it so much for the main characters. I mean is the other side really that bad in real life. Every "suit" in the show is so straight and down the middle with no personality whatsoever, and they always get dominated in every confrontation by the forward thinking, quick witted main character. It gets to be a little much.

And for Danny... I was creeped out by him in the first two minutes. And who leaves a voicemail on a cell phone like he did? It's not an answering machine... she can't hear you. So why was he going "Hello? Jordan? Are you there?"

And the Jordan eating all the time? A little over the top perhaps? It's almost out of a bad sitcom.

Still will watch the show, but after such a long break not a real strong performance.

My wife thought the Danny thing had a nice stalker quality to it. It was kind of odd. I can see it: On a very special episod of Studio 60, Danny stalks and Kills Jordan! Matt makes funny quip and then kills Harriett, end of series.

At least he isn't beating around the bush though like he did on West Wing for seven years with Josh and Donna.

I guess that they are trying to show that Danny isn't Josh Lyman, which is good. Of course, they could have cast a different actor, which would have been better.

Except he's still inept with women...just in a different way. I still think the characters are a little too much alike.

I'm also wondering when Jordan gets a restraining order...

Jordan is WAY hotter than Donna, even prego.

    That's it, Abbott.

    Head or gut?

They went to far with this that no one is going to be thinking "Good for him" when he inevitably lands here for that long makeout with the special music playing. Instead it'll only empower stalkers.
