It doesn't retain the Heroes audience -- though I'd love to see how Heroes is doing now opposite 24.

    That's been the biggest problem.

That, and the show costs a fortune to produce.

Better to take the Studio 60 budget and pour it into six new game shows. [/sarcasm]

Yeah, I'm not quite buying that it's on life support. Only place I'm hearing that is here.

I liked the dark turn it took last night with Matt and the drugs. Could get ugly.

  4. God, do I not want another drugs-rehab-Leo McGarry story arc.
This was better than the previous two, I'll grant that, and if they're really going to play Danny-Jordan for laughs, as per the traiier last night, I have some hope.
    But, Jesus, Aaron, Lysis-fucking-strata?
Give me a break, although Hughley saying "You're writing like a guy on a first date" may have been a little self-deprecation from the Mushroom Man.

That was the best episode in a while.

Schlamme up to his usual camera tricks that are at times witty enough to comment on -- like the last fade -- and some great use of soundtrack to separate the flashbacks from the real time.

I don't think this will echo the Leo plotline, though, Fenian, because I don't think Matt's a true addict. He's a self-medicator, and I'm willing to bet that Sorkin sees a difference.

Yeah, Albie seems the type that only meds up when he stresses. His hallucination last night -- and that's really what it was -- was his conscience trying to set him straight.

Heaven forbid there's anything intellectual on TV, Fen.

  9. That's not intellect. That's name-dropping.
And good for Simon for pointing out that it's a terrible play.

  10. Can anyone remember the name of the writer Perry's character hallucinated/conjured up? Tim something, right?
It's been bugging me all day, because it hit me that it might have been one of those things where you rearrange the letters from one name/word and spell something different. (Total brain cramp here. What's that called?)

    Matt Albie = Tim ??
    remaining letters = atalbe

    Hm. Maybe not. Never mind.
But I still need someone to tell me what the word for that is, or I won't be able to sleep tonight.

  11. It was Tim Batale, and it's an anagram!

    I'm doubly thrilled right now.

Heroes is beating 24, which stuns the hell out of me...

I have the entire season of Heroes tivoed, but I haven't watched an episode yet... I hear it's great...

Great episode of Studio 60 last night... The best in awhile...
