I don't have a clue about the veracity of Henry's info, but if that's true, this show is done.

Studio 60 simply costs too much for the ratings it generates.

The silver lining is that it means Friday Night Lights has a better chance of coming back.

I thought that I read that Sorkin got paid and his production company got a guarantee for the entire season, which is rare for the first season of a drama. So, they got paid the same regardless of how well the show did, meaning that it makes some sense for them to show it. It likely would have been cancelled after 6 or 13 episodes if they didn't have the guarantee. Pulling it off for part of sweeps at the last minuteis obviously awful news for the show, and about as public as a no-confidence vote that you can have.

I think that the show is done and that it probably makes more sense to save the episodes for the boxed set.

I'm still waiting for the last 5 (supposedly) filmed episodes of 3 Lbs.

I read somewhere that Studio 60 is the most expensive show on network TV to produce, something that is incredibly rare for a show in its first season.

You know what's interesting about LOST (which that article, falsely I think, mentions is in "danger") is can you imagine how angry people would be if ABC just said "Fuck it" and cancelled the thing? I mean, they'd have to publish a novel or something just to sort out all the bullshit they've built up for three seasons. You can cancell Love Monkey right away, and it's like, whatever. For the most part, people would feel the same about Studio 60. But when a show is a giant three-season cock tease like LOST, you really owe it to people to deliver some sort of resolution, I think.

FYI -- Black Donnellys drew less than 8 million for its premier.

Friday Night Lights is the best show on network TV... I really didn't want to like it either...

    Resurrected thread!

No, this isn't a bump to say that the show's been canceled. Not yet, anyway.

In fact, they are still filming:

A possible scenario is the one we've speculated: NBC burning the remaining episodes in the spring/summer, a prelude to the DVD set. I wonder what script changes/overhauls have been made to wrap up the storylines in one nice, tight, single-season bow.

Well, it's been away for a little while. Are you missing it?

Insertion of a Joshua Malina character to serve as father of Amanda Peet's character's baby?

I'm missing it, though if it comes back in the same time slot, my wife won't even watch it with me any more. She's gotten into The Riches on FX.
