I thought that too, but seeing it again, he didn't exactly make himself available for a pass, let alone go and demand the ball. I'm not in favor of a TO in that situation, but it seems like it probably would have gotten them a better shot than that.

8-17 from the line. Again, free throws. Freshmen.

You would probably be the only person I know who does. So who's your Final Four picks again?

It may be U-G-L-Y but it's effective, especially come tournament time. The Bruins play like this the entire season, whereas most teams have to adjust their style to the tournament. That's why Ben Howland teams do relatively well in the NCAA Tournament. They're prepared.
I was a little worried that Kansas might have too much for UCLA in the Elite 8, but after watching the way Southern Illinois played the Jayhawks, I'm feeling more confident. Kansas plays good defense. UCLA plays GREAT defense. I see Kansas in the same mold as Memphis last season. Tons of athleticism and depth, but last year's Bruin teams frustrated them in the Elite 8 and came away with a relatively easy win.

Gimpy, I know you didn't intend it that way, but that's kind of a back-handed slap at SIU, which also plays outstanding defense.

No, I have nothing but respect for SIU. They play the game the right way and, frankly, if not for the late turnover would likely be playing UCLA in the Elite 8.
The only point I was trying to make was, in my opinion, I think UCLA plays even BETTER defense and, if Kansas had that much trouble with SIU's defense, I feel the Bruins have a great shot at advancing to the Final Four for the second consecutive year.
If it came across like I don't have respect for SIU, then I apologize. Cuz, that's a damn good basketball team.

My thoughts exactly. That was a great victory for KU, because it's going to see much of the same Saturday with UCLA. Jayhawks can win games in the 80s or the 50s, which makes them nothing like 2006 Memphis in my book.

BYH, You're the only other person besides me who picked Oregon to go this far. As for my pick. I had Kansas-Texas.

I hate to admit it but.

    ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!

    I need the money!

I've paid a bit more attention to college hoops this year than usual, and I love teams with a dominant guard. Aaron Brooks looks like a fuckin stud and a shitty QB. Of course, I also picked Memphis over A&M...I know all about Memphis' crappy schedule, but that's an incredibly athletic team and Calipari's made the Final Four with a team from a craptastic conference before.

My pick of Oregon was made more of my hatred toward Florida repeating.
