With the exception of UConn those were all young teams that had been inconsistent thoroughout the season and Mason, god bless them, got hot with a group of upperclassmen playing inspired ball.

UConn, well they were just a talented, lazy bunch with no chemistry. As terrible a coaching job as Calhoun has ever done IMO.

And it's no offense to Mason personally, but they were an above-average mid-major team, nothing more. They were certainly capable of springing an upset, but they aren't getting past the second round in this year's tournament like most above-average mid majors. No better than Winthrop.

  2. If Memphis makes the FF, what are the odds that it's still listed in the record book come 2016?

I'd love to buy a "Memphis- 2007 Final Four" t-shirt.

I didn't pick up a "Memphis- 2007 Conference USA Champs" t-shirt. Seemed too much like a "Winner of All-Nordic Spicy Food Cookoff" or "Champion of NASCAR Fans Spelling Bee" t-shirt. File under "B" for "BFD."

  5. UCLA must leave. Now.

How 'bout a FF with USC, UCLA and Oregon? Is that possible or do the brackets not match up?

Slightly off-topic, but this triggers a question: Are there any D-Is on postseason probation? It used to be you'd always have a couple of basketball and football programs banned from TV and/or postseason for a year or two, but now I can't think of any.

That's a lost corner of my bracket anyway. I ran with So. Illinois to reach the Final Four in one of two pools (a small, four-person pool) I'm playing in. That happening would have given me the overall title already since the others each had Kansas winning it all. .... DAMN!

That is possible, Xan. It would be Oregon vs. UCLA and USC vs. Ohio State/Memphis.
