Shelton has a bum shoulder. Said he feels like a pitcher who's long past his pitch count.

Djoker drops the third set to Musetti 6-2 to fall behind two sets to one.

Normally, I’d say no way a guy like that’s going to hang on and beat Djokovic in a major. But this year? There’s a way.

Djoker dominating fifth set, trying to end it before 3 a.m. in Paris. He'll just miss.

Some very quick matches so far today.

Most notably, Swiatek hung the dreaded double bagel on Anastasia Potapova, taking just 40 minutes to finish her off.

Coco Gauff lost just three games in breezing past Elisabetta Cocciaretto in one hour flat. Gauff has cut down on her double faults in Paris, averaging 4.75 in her four matches compared to her average of 6.45 for the year.

Also, Vondrousova beat Olga Danilovic in an hour and 20 minutes, and Alcaraz stopped FAA in straight sets.

I enjoy watching Javier so much; such variety.

Get this, IGA won more games (12) than points she lost in the whole match (10)!! In Rd 16 against player ranked 40. Amazing.

Medvedev out -- beaten by De Minaur in four sets. Not a big surprise -- Medvedev has said himself he is a hard-court specialist.

Women's quarters are set. Most intriguing matchup to me is "big babe" Sabalenka vs. fast-rising teenager Mirra Andreeva, who seems poised to break out and join the top-tier players.

Others are Swiatek vs. Vondrousova, Gauff vs. Jabeur and my new favorite player Paolini vs. Rybakina.

Damn, somehow I have to pick between Gauff, who's such a breath of fresh air, and Jabeur, who has been refreshing for a while now and was great in the Netflix series.

Iga looks like she's "on" vs being lost with a confidence doubt, which means she would roll over anyone.

Djoker survives another five-set close call. In this one, Cerundolo -- a pretty damn good clay court player -- got to the fourth round in Paris last year, too -- was on serve at 3-4 in the deciding set when Djokovic got the break after going down love-40 and held on for the win.

How about this shot at 3-3 in the fifth:

Gotta give the old man credit, he's tough. But I don't think he'll beat Sinner the way he's been playing.

Zverev wins a fourth-set tiebreak to take his match against Holder Rune the distance.

Zverev finished off his comeback victory in another late-late night (early morning) marathon to complete the men's quarters.

    Semifinal matchups: Djokovic-Ruud, Zverev-De Minaur, Alcaraz-Tsitsipas and Sinner-Dimitrov.
