I mentioned this in one of the threads last year, but I think Ons may have missed her chance at winning a major. She's been close, but she's almost 30 and there isn't a great history of women winning majors in their 30s.

Bummer, really enjoyed her in Netflix series.

Swiatek just lost the second set and is now down a break in the third to American Danielle Collins, who beat her in the 2022 Aussie Open semifinals.

    Make that two breaks.

Got one back, but Collins still leads 4-3.

Collins is playing like she did a couple years ago when she made the final in Melbourne -- powerful, intense and confident. Swiatek has looked skittish, tentative, confused and frustrated for much of the second and third sets. She's even flat-out crumbled at times.

This will be a very interesting finish.

BTW, Collins' coach looks like some homeless guy who just wandered in off the street.

And as soon as I say that, Collins suddenly looks tentative and loses her serve again. They're back on serve.

And just like that, Iga turns everything around and polishes off a victory. Down 1-4 in the third, she reeled off five consecutive games.

No. 6 seed Zverev has been pushed to a fifth-set tiebreak by a Slovakian qualifier named Lukas Klein.

Zverev barely hangs on to advance.

ESPN was going side-by-side with Ruud and Zverev in simultaneous match tiebreaks, which I found a little disorienting. I think they were using the audio of both.

    Collins announces her retirement looms

This season will be her last, doesn't know how long into the year she will go.

Latest in the long line of second-round go-the-distance thrillers featuring high seeds:

Medvedev dropped the first two sets to Emil Ruusuvuori but has dug himself out of the hole and leveled the match by winning the fourth set in a tiebreak.

    Now heading into the fifth.
