Of his 14 majors, he won six with Nike equipment. Also, Nike has a pretty nice stable of guys who have won on Tour using their equipment so I don't think it's that. Also, there was a stretch in the mid-2000s when he put his Titleist driver back in the bag because he wasn't feeling it with the Nike driver. He apparently has it in his contract that he can opt out of Nike clubs if he feels what they have developed is inferior. That said, Tiger did one of his more asshole things involving Nike equipment.

2002 Ryder Cup was a couple of weeks away and it was announced Tiger would be playing with Nike clubs for the first time, switching away from his Titleist irons. Golf media kinda' looked at the timing odd - switching right before one of golf's biggest events. He shrugged when asked why switch now and simply said, "The Majors are over." Anyone else wanna' still debate whether or not he takes the Ryder Cup seriously?

To be fair, Phil changed his whole bag also right before the 04 Ryder Cup.

Phil doesn't have the best Ryder Cup record either, but since he flares his dopey dimples and is personable he gets a pass.

It was 2004 where Hal Sutton got the great idea of pairing Tiger and Phil. I walked the course with their first match, which they lost to Monty and Harrington, and the two of them spent the morning standing on opposite sides of the fairways. On the 18th hole of their second match, also a loss, Mickelson hit the most out of bounds drive in the history of the event, sending it flying over the fences of Oakland Hills and possibly into Ontario. The look Woods gave him was memorable.

And loses to the marker, a member named Jeff Knox, who's really, really good. Beat Rory last year and beat Sergio a few years back.

I'll be at the Masters on Sunday. I doubt Tiger will.

As I recall, that tee ball was out of bounds before it left the tee box.

And yet a handful of idiots will scream "IN THE HOLE!" every time Tiger swings a club.

I'll be in Augusta next week but home in time for my regular Sunday-morning starting time. If I run into Tiger at ANGC I'll tell him we have room for a fourth; gotta give him a chance to make a few bucks.

Don't give him more than two a side...

I will be very interested to see who they pair him with.

Probably two other former champions who aren't Mickelson. Zach Johnson and Schwartzel perhaps.

I was thinking Zach and Couples.
