Whadda ya think? Woods probably needs to shoot 68 on Friday to have a chance to play the weekend. After seeing that back 9, I'm not sure there's a 68 in there. Maybe a 78.

I'm more interested in his conquests than golf at this point.

His short game was okay; his driving is horrible and that's going to be the roadblock to any return to glory. In his period of dominance, he had so much length that his approaches were still manageable in light of his distance advantage. Nowadays, guys like DJ yesterday bomb it past him, and in the fairway. Now Tiger's trying to make up 20-30 yds from the rough, instead of being 20-30 ahead of the guys while in the rough. Tiger's swing still looks like a band-aid. Every time I see a snippet of that guy in 2000 at Pebble just ripping it off the tee with square lines in every aspect of his swing, I look at Adam Scott and think "why did you let Adam keep the swing and you changed?"

Totally agree. He's never been super accurate off the tee. And it's really poor right now. If he can't figure that out, not much chance of winning again.

Same as yesterday, scattershot off the tee. Even through nine, +4 overall with the cut line looking like +1-+2.

Winds supposed to kick up with gusts over 30 this afternoon. He needs 32 or 33 on the back to be around.

Tiger can't swing like he used to because his old swing wore the shit out of his knee and his back and he can't take advantage of, uh, certain methods to alleviate those things.

His swing, at his peak, was too fierce for a normal human body. Those 240-yard laser irons? Can't play golf like that forever.

The first two days aren't ever what it's going to be about. I'm sure he will find his way near the top of the leader board now and then. But his back isn't going to hold up the whole weekend, probably ever.

Trunk slammer for Woods. But even-par isn't awful with today's conditions. He has a lot of big-name company missing the cut with him, DJ, Day, Fowler.

He's not swinging nearly as hard as he used to, which was inevitable. Still has enough length to be competitive if he can keep it in the fairway. But that's a pretty big IF.

Should be pretty telling about where he's at with tournaments three out of the next four weeks.
