I totally understand that, but I assumed (& we know what that gets you!) that the Wii Motion Plus would improve the controls over say Wii Sports tennis. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon enough.

Just have to throw in that Guitar Hero 5 - out Sept. 1 - will include Johnny Cash. For the first time ever, I will pre-order a video game.

Carry on.

Changing gears slightly, I just got done playing Colorado in my NHL 09 Be A Pro. Not much to write home about there.

The cool thing was that there were a couple people in the stands wearing the old Quebec Nordique sweaters.

MLB 09 The Show users: Anyone ever just let your pitcher stand there for a few minutes before throwing a pitch, and let the game go into cutscenes. Kinda awesome. At one point, the outfielders start pulling pranks on each other, and at another someone starts doing the robot in the dugout.

Yeah I've done that and didn't know it had happened. When I came back over an hour later everyone was sitting on the ground and when I started the game it acted all surprised.

Also, Tom Petty.

Cash's song is Ring of Fire.
Petty's is Running Down a Dream.

Might I also add that I will be preordering this as well.

7. I know this thread is mostly sports (and that's cool), but I felt like I had to at least present an upcoming game.

So it's DS game called Scribblenauts. Imagine Super Mario, and the goal is to reach the star or solve the puzzle to earn the star.

Let's say the star is in the top of a tree. How do you get it down? You can call up almost any item you can think of to get it down. Axe to chop it down? Type in axe. Beaver to chew the tree down? Type in beaver. Ladder? Bomb? Helicopter? Ninja star?

Things react to other things as they should. Dracula is afraid of garlic. Lions will chase lambs but run from lion tamers. You can attach things to things. One famous youtube video has God on a skateboard with a shotgun fighting Cthulhu (an ancient evil from Lovecraft). Toasters dropped in water electrocute sharks.

The team spent six months going through dictionaries, encyclopedias and online sources, and there are more than 10,000 items in the game you can call up that react appropriately with each other. A LOT of sites gave this "Best Game of E3" and I'm honestly just trying to spread the word.

And one last link: Joystiq, an online gaming mag, took a "stump Scribblenauts" list to E3.

Nine of 10 were in the game. The one that wasn't, the developer asked what it meant, sent off a text message and said, "It'll be in the final version."

I'll end with this story, posted by a guy on a messageboard who played it at E3:

"So listen to this story. I was in the early levels; I didn't quite have an idea of how ridiculously in-depth the database was. I was summoning things like ladders, glasses of water, rayguns, what have you. But I reached a level with zombie robots, and the zombie robots kept killing me. Rayguns didn't work, a torch didn't work, a pickaxe didn't work. In my frustration, I wrote in "Time Machine". And one popped up. What the fuck? A smile dawned on my face. I hopped in, and the option was given to me to either travel to the past or the future. I chose past. When I hopped out, there were fucking dinosaurs walking around. I clicked one, and realized I could RIDE THEM. So I hopped on a fucking DINOSAUR, traveled back to the present, and stomped the shit out of robot zombies. Did you just read that sentence? Did you really? I FUCKING TRAVELED THROUGH TIME AND JUMPED ON A DINOSAUR AND USED IT TO KILL MOTHERFUCKING ROBOT ZOMBIES. This game is unbelievable. Impossible. There's nothing you can't do."

I'm more excited about this game than anything I've played in the last 5-6 years.

This game will enter my new DS collection when I get the funds and the time to get it.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I had heard of it but didn't read up. Sounds really cool.

Will you be able to play as Tom Petty? that would be cool.

I'd love to see the series add some Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Elvis Presley as well.

I'd love to play Grand Slam Tennis online with anyone who has it. Let me know.

As the owner of (still functioning) Pong, Atari, Intellivision and PS2 units, I've been kicking around the thought of delving into the world of the latest.

Is it worth my time (not to mention, money), gang?

P.S. I have a 61-inch television, if that helps. (Pong looks really interesting on a unit that size! Well, as interesting as two lines and a floating dot can, anyway).
