I had a NES, PS1 and PS2 and decided on a whim to buy the XBox 360 due to the fact that a bunch of friends at work had it and gave it sterling reviews. I love my 360, it is one of the best purchases I have made recently.

Ross: How does XBox stack up against Wii?

I am not a huge fan of the Wii. I never got all the motion stuff down, plus I am not a fan of all that movement when I play video games, I go to the gym for a reason.

    Two things:

    1. Colton -- before making a purchase, check out which games are on each platform and find out what you really want to play. Certain games are exclusive to the PS3 or to the XBox, like Left4Dead (X) and MLB 09 The Show (PS3). I have a friend who has both, mostly because he wanted Left4Dead, and he's starting to think the XBox is a better platform. I don't know. I've always been a Sony guy so I've stuck with the PS3 and haven't been disappointed. The depth of these next-gen games is just so amazing...graphics just stunning. If you're going to play it a decent bit, it's absolutely worth the investment, especially if you can catch a deal on Craiglist or something. Lots of folks selling system and game bundles for cheap right now out there.

    2. For the MLB 09 the Show users...ran into a glitch in the middle of my franchise and wanted to share it in case anyone else had the same problem. Got to August in my O's franchise, and I'm simming through this first season now and just hammering out player development, making trades, etc. Team's way out of first and I'd rather start fresh next year. Got to mid-August and every time I tried to get past a certain day (the 13th, I think), the game would quit and send me back to the main PS3 screen. If this happens, use the L2 or R2 button to switch to another team, then try to sim past that date. Worked for me. Glad I didn't have to restart the whole damn franchise.

Colton, I'll agree with Cosmo in that you should check out which games you really want.
Like Cosmo said, Left4Dead is an Xbox exclusive. The Fallout 3 downloadable content is also Xbox only. No one knows when or if it comes to PS3. And I believe GTA IV downloadable content (The Lost and The Damned) isn't out for PS3 yet either.

Each system probably has its own pros and cons too. You won't lose either way in terms of graphics and stuff like that.

    Personally, I like the Xbox.
And for the most part, it looks like the hardware problems (RROD) that the 360 encountered are pretty much over. You may still encounter some, but I don't think it's any different than the PS3 now.

As far as price, the 360 might be a little less. And plus if you get the 360, you can join the NCAA Football 09/10 dynasty we have going here.

Whichever you choose, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Have a Wii and PS3, here are the thoughts.
Hank, the Fallout DLC is coming this month to PS3, Operation Anchorage drops late this month and I have been foaming at the mouth for quite some time about getting it the day it comes out, with the other DLCs coming at 4-6 week intervals.
Also, if you like high-def movies, the PS3 has a blu-ray player (I sound like the guys at E3 trying to tell you why you should buy it.)
Look, had I the money I would own an XBox too (want to play Left4Dead real bad), it's just that simple. However, I love my PS3 much more than my Wii.

But hey, I just picked up Tiger 10 with the Wii Motion Plus last night and I am already loving the crap out of the game. Unlike gold on Wii Sports, this damn golf game is like actually playing golf. It makes me so happy that if I need to tap it in on the green, I can actually tap it in without getting super frustrated.
Quite the fun game, it will have me as I take a break from The Show until Operation Anchorage drops.

I hope they add Mr. Petty as one of the in-game characters. That would be cool. Running Down a Dream does not look easy to play either (on the harder difficulties).

More on the Tiger front, love the addition of the Weather Channel stuff to let you play the conditions of the course as it is today.
Played Bethpage Black in a driving rain. I know that's not exactly how it was, but it was pretty neat anyway.

They did something similiar with NCAA Football 09, although it was glitchy at times and it didn't work or wasn't accurate at times. Maybe they got the technology better this year.

So, I've got a gift card from the in-laws for Father's Day. I'm debating between "Fight Night: Round 4" or "UFC: Undisputed."

I've played Fight Night in the past. But Best Buy had UFC on a display and it looked pretty amazing. I'm not particularly a huge fan of either boxing or MMA, but virtually beating people up is a good stress relief.

    Anybody played either of them?

I have not, but I've heard great things about UFC.

BTW, thanks for that tip on Scribblenauts a few posts back. That may be the most ingenious game ever made. I can't wait for it.

UFC is pretty amazing. I rarely follow the UFC at all, I may stop for a minute or two on Spike when its on, but I am hooked deep on this game.
