Mad, honestly, I didn't think it was going to be worth it because NCAA 09 was so fun; I figured there wasn't anything they could do that would make me want the new one.

Then my brother got it, I played it, and I realized I was wrong. It's frickin' sweet.

So really, besides updated rosters (which we have already in NCAA 09), stadiums, fight songs and mascots, what is in it that says, 'holy efffing sheet, this game is ridiculouuuuus!'

The gameplay is actually much improved. A ton more animations and just overall more realistic, I'd say. It doesn't play like a video game. You can't just run on the sideline and have the defenders follow along parallel like in 09, nor can you heave a long pass and change to your 6-5 wideout and out-jump the coverage every play.

I'm not sure if you've played NHL '08 or '09, but that's what I'd equate this to. When EA went from 07 to 08 in its NHL series, there was a huge jump in terms of realism. Now NHL 08 and 09 won a gazillion Game of the Year awards, so I'm not saying that NCAA 10 is going to blow everything else away like those two titles did, but I do think they've made a jump this year.

Also, the new Superstar Mode -- I think they call it Road to Glory, or something like that -- is more like what I remember Madden's similar mode being like. Dynasty is a bit deeper too; you can recruit against schools now.

Then there's Team Builder, which has been really fun. I'm not even sure I'm going to play in a dynasty with a real team, because I've made about six or seven and they're everything I want from a team. Rather than taking a pre-existing shitty team like UL Monroe (or, cough, Buffalo ;)), you can make a shitty one-star school with awesome unis and sweet digs and build them up.

Like I said, I was skeptical. I didn't want to drop $60, especially after I did so a few weeks ago with Tiger Woods (and have been largely disappointed that I did ever since), but really, I'm glad I did.

How's team builder work? What makes it so great?

You can design every little detail of the school, including uniforms, stadium, field, rosters, etc. You can also choose how prestigious the school is in various categories that affect recruiting.

It is a web-based program; you download the teams you make to the game.

So it handles the little details a heck of a lot better than the create-a-schools of the past. Sounds pretty sweet. May be time for Cleveland State to get a football program!

Haha, I just did a quick search, and there are 125 results for "Cleveland State" that people have made.

I was in Target today and saw NCAA '10 ... for the PS freaking 2. I was blown away (but happy) that they're still making games for that system. I'd figured the '08 series was going to be the last of the line.

I wonder what the gameplay footage looks like. You think they basically just update the rosters and move on?

I was wondering the same thing, trying to decide if it's enough of an upgrade over '08 (my last NCAA game) to fork over $40 for it. The pictures on the back of the box actually looked a little rougher than in years past.
