Devil Survivor is a lot tamer than Etrian Odyssey 1 and 2, which are more like dungeon crawls (Might and Magic, Ultima). Devil Survivor is more like Final Fantasy Tactics plus Persona, with multiple endings and plot points. To pimp myself a bit here, I reviewed it for Blast Magazine's online video game section:

I've heard good things about Lost Odyssey, but I only have a Wii, DS and PS2, so it's cut off from me for a while. I'll probably crack and buy a PS3 or 360 when FF13 comes out, but I'm still undecided about which one I want.

FF8 has a lot of tween romance, kind of. Some of Squall and Rinoa's speaking parts are wince-inducing. The power-up system - "drawing" magic from enemies for 5 to 10 minutes of battles at some point - can also be annoying. I do like that it's something different in the whole FF series, and that within a few hours you can ridiculously overpower yourself. (Get Fire and Thunder spells, refine to Fira and Thundara, and you're off.)

If you're having trouble with picture sharpness with the PS2 and you happen to be playing on an HD TV, I strongly, strongly suggest getting the component cable at your local game store. I had no problem playing a PS2 on my old regular TV, but when I hooked it up to my HD TV, I thought it looked like absolute ass. I saw the component cable at a GameStop for just a few bucks and decided to give it a shot. HUGE difference. Picture was a lot sharper and it gave me 16x9 on games that supported it (like the newer EA Sports games).

Tino, I don't have an HD TV or anything. Just a standard 20-inch. (That's what she said.) But one of the College Hoops games - I think 2006 or 2007 - just had a completely illegible font to me, which is one of my pet peeves in games. The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Wii also had the same problem. I also wasn't a huge fan of the added complexity in the recruiting; I much preferred just recruiting juco transfers and high school seniors, as opposed to following guys from their sophomore year of high school.

20 over after two rounds at Turnberry.
I am full of the epic fail.

I guess I know how Tiger feels now, though I get to keep playing this weekend.

I am gonna buy NCAA 10, but I think I will wait until after my job interview on Monday, if I get the gig, it will be a gift of sorts.

I so hope you get the job Ross! For two reasons :D

NCAA 10 is amazing. I was a bit underwhelmed by it at first but after playing some more last night have absolutely fallen in love with it the way I did last year's version.

And if you guys that have it haven't tried out the Road to Glory stuff yet, DO IT NOW! It is awesome having them save highlights as you play the games and having Erin Andrews do segments on your player.

I created one, got him to 5-star status and signed up at UCLA, for a change of pace. First game will be tonight on that one, and I'm continuing my Miami dynasty as well.

Anyone else gonna pick up Wii sports resort next week? Looks like it'll be pretty good.
