Running video games (and consoles) thread

Oh and I will be getting Battlefield 1943, since it is also available on the PS3. I just have to break away long enough from Fat Princess, Burn Zombie Burn, Madden, Ncaa 10 and COD: World at War

 

Has anyone picked up NHL 10 yet? I haven't bought an NHL game for the PS3 yet, last one I played was NHL 07, I think. I'm guessing it has to be pretty good...

 

My brother, no huge hockey fan, plays NHL 09 (I think) and swears by it. He says they revamped the control system within the past couple of years (since '07, anyway) and it's phenomenal. I think all the checks and hits are mapped to the right stick now.

There were only three in when I checked tonight. And I've won two straight games online after losing three playing like I did in NCAA. I actually - gasp - run the ball on Madden.

Yup. Have to. I get killed when I just line up in the shotgun. Although with a fantasy draft I can get myself better receivers than Devin Hester, Earl Bennett and Johnny Knox.

I got disconnected right as I was lining up to kick a game winning field goal in overtime of a game that I should have won by three touchdowns in regulation. I'm pretty calm for the most part, but I'm about as fucking pissed as I get right now.

 

When I caught a break I was playing NHL '09 until my thumbs hurt, and wound up selling it because I was becoming a captive to it, thinking about it in deep REM sleep and in the shower and while filling the dog bowl (the mark of an awesome video game). I couldn't imagine it on the Wii, playing it on the PS3 is gruelling enough. The penalties could use some work, but on the whole it was great, and good fun for beery gatherings.
