Figured a few more people might see this here:

We're probably going to get on around 10-1030 Eastern.

Yea, I don't actually own the game yet. Just rented it. But I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it before the end of the year.

Best first person shooter ever made.

Kind of a weird question for this one. So I've always liked, but was never particularly good at first-person shooters. I think it might have simply been the action of moving around with one joystick and having to aim with the other. I've always been lousy at aiming.

I am very interested in the new Call of Duty. Do you guys have any tips on how to become better at the first-person shooter games? I try to do it as much as I can with GTA IV.

    Just practice.

I've never been super good at first person shooters either, Broth. But I rented MW2 and have done better than I thought I would at some of the online play.

Haven't really done much of the actual campaign. I'll probably do more of that after I buy it in a week or so.

And Storm is right about the private matches. Lot of fun playing against people you at least somewhat know (even if it doesn't count for leveling up).

The regular team deathmatches are pretty good too.

Yeah we had a good time last night. I felt bad, though, Hank, because you were playing with guys like 30-40 levels in already haha.

Oh it wouldn't have made that big of a difference.

I still managed to get 4-6 kills each map. Not great, but not horrible either.

You up for more tonight, say about 9:30 Eastern? I think Storm and his posse are planning to be on around then too.

I may be, but may not be. Don't wait for me though, I'll just join up with y'all if I can make it.

Time for my semiannual pimping of my favorite web-game:

    www.dolphinsim.com

It's a text-based sports simulation site. It's like playing Madden in Franchise mode, simming games, against other people. Only with a much better and in-depth simulation process.

Their football sim is second-to-none and the best web-based game I've ever played. Their baseball and basketball sims have some fans too.

For football, they have several pro leagues and a single large college league. In the pros, you are competing against the other 31 teams right away. In college, you have to start in I-AA and work your way up through the ranks to the major conferences. Seasons last roughly three months and cost $5.95 per team (with one free season in each sport per user).

The game isn't for everybody. You have to like numbers-based games (i.e. be a nerd) and you have to not mind that the game has some ideosynchrasies (some things may not work exactly like you'd think they should, because they have to trade off between realism inside each game, realistic results, and competitive balance). But for the small subset of people who are into this sort of thing, it is absolutely fantastic.

Has it only been 15 years since Sony unleashed PlayStation on us?
