You are completely fine, cause none of them follow the same storyline or characters. The only similarities are from little things like chocobos, the birds you ride around on before you get an airship. You can pick up one and be just fine. I won't play anything since 7 cause even though everyone bows to 7, I think it's overrated and not even in the top three of the series.

Yeah - Except for FFX-2 (10-2) none of the games are sequels or rely on prior knowledge of the series.

And, uh, Roy, do you mean you haven't play any of the games since 7 and THREE games before it are higher on your list...? 2/4j is really good, as is 3/6j. 1, 2 and 3 don't hold up well to me, and 5 feels very middle of the road to me. [/nerding]

You've got to appreciate 1 just for the fact that it's a classic. If you can play it on a computer or something that can speed up frame rates, it's much more enjoyable. Want the biggest challenge of all time? Try to beat the game with just 1 white mage (let all your others die in the first battle and never revive them). I know it's doable with one blackbelt. But one white mage might just be impossible.

Before I start trying to navigate Amazon, I'll ask here - is there a WiFi adaptor for the PS3?

If you have a Wii, FF1 (NES version) and FF2/4 (SNES version) are available on the virtual console. FF2/4 was just released this week and is 800 Wii points. FF1 is available for 500 Wii points.
There's also a couple of Wiiware Final Fantasy games available. I haven't played them, but most of the reviews I've seen were good.

Batman, FF1 and 2 have just shown up on the iTunes app store as well.

Inky, PS3's come with Wifi built in. It's part of the reason they're more expensive than an Xbox.

Wait ... I've had my PS3 for a couple of years now. It's got wifi built in? Or do just the new ones?

Edit: Well, I'm a freakin' moron. I just set up the embedded wireless connection on my PS3. It's been there all along. I've missed YEARS of beating losing to y'all in various games.

Dumb question, how do you download roster updates for The Show?

This game is sicker than sick.

Good lord, I know more about your console than you do. I need to get out more. Or just buy one and sleep on the couch for a week.

I love 2/4, that's No. 1 for me, it introduced me to the series and having that girl call monsters is the coolest thing ever. I love 3/6 cause it's kinda the same way, but it added just enough technology to make it interesting, so that's No. 2. I love 1 cause it's just classic, and it started it all, so that's No. 3. I just think 7 is overrated, and I played the hell out of that game. Now we are getting way too whiny for my taste, as the stories are all seeming to be about androgynous youth who are outcast from something and have to do something huge to be accepted or at least be ruler of everything. What was cool about 2/4 was that everything I just typed happened, but he wasn't a wuss about it until be became a paladin. /holy crap am I a nerd or what
