GTA on horseback, huh? Maybe it's a bit more entertaining than GTA. At least, I hope. I just want a long shooter or something I can play.

That's the shorthand way of explaining it. Like some other games, there's a system that tracks how you behave. Act like a good guy and characters treat you one way. Act like a bad guy and you're dealing with sheriffs and posses the whole time.

I'm planning on finishing the solo mode as a good guy, then playing it again as an outlaw.

It's what they call a sandbox game. There is a main story, but you can also veer away from that and do side missions as well. There's no real order you have to do things in, except for the main story sequence.

And I've heard there is a good deal of side things to do in Red Dead.

There are plenty of things do to aside from the main story. Grab a Wanted poster & track some baddies, hunt any number of wild animals, search for buried treasure, find strangers & accept their missions, etc.

Sounds a lot like Infamous. Anyone here play both? I loved that game and have been searching for something similar to it for months.

    I have not played Infamous.

I believe Infamous is a PS3 exclusive. Most of us here have 360s.

Infamous is a fantastic game. Lots to do. Sounds like what you guys are talking about with other sandbox titles. I highly recommend it. Dang thing literally took over my existence for about a month.

Has anyone found a sports game they think is better playing online than the computer?

Every football and soccer game I've played has turned into the evil bastard step-child of that sport online.

For example, in FIFA 10 every player abuses the sprint and jostle button so it turns into a game of hockey who can throw the guy furthest off the ball every time they get it.

Football turns into who can exploit the shit out the faulty blitz system that EA says they fix but never do.

As I griped earlier in the thread, that's been my experience as well.

I just about gave up on FIFA online after playing two of the 10v10 games where one player on my team thought it would be fun to score own goals. Different player each time, but the MO was the same. Plays normal until our team gives up the first goal, then decides to start trying for own goals.

I have fun playing NHL 94 over the Internet with some friends on the SNES and Genesis; they have a hack that replaces the default rosters with all-time teams, and it restores some teams and lowers the speed of all players, to make it feel more gritty. However, I doubt that's what everyone is looking for in this thread...

I tried Madden online once, a couple years ago. The guy played as the Rams, and just threw pitches to Marshall Faulk for seven yards each play. He scored a touchdown, and then got the ball back and just killed the clock the rest of the time. It was so unsatisfying, I never tried multiplayer again, except with friends in person. There are just so many ways people can intentionally screw with a sports game.

Hate playing sports games online. Would much rather mess with the dynasty/franchise features on most.
