There's a somewhat fun game online called Football Identity. There's no graphics, the players are just dots on the field, and it's "turn-based" and not real time. But it's a blast getting a team together and coordinating tactics and such. Cooperation is everything.

I say "somewhat" fun because some players have had years to build up stats and will just overpower you, making it pointless to play against about half the teams on your schedule.

Got Mario Galaxy 2 last weekend. Only played 10 levels (of the 120 or so) but it's pretty amazing. Way better than the first game.

Anyone ever play Blood Bowl? http://www.bloodbowl-game.com/

I remember being intrigued when it came out ... then I forgot about it until just the other day.

The World Cup game really is a ton of fun. So many possibilities. I won a Cup with the U.S. after getting a really easy draw in the knockout stage. Drew Japan first and South Africa second, then slipped by Portugal and Spain to take the title. Moving on and trying my hand at Euro qualifying with Wales now.

I got the game at a Movie Gallery closeout sale for $30 and really enjoy it, though I don't know anything about soccer. I watch the World Cup, etc.

How long do you set your quarters for? I put it on 5 minutes, but that seems a little short. I don't want to actually play the full 45 minute halves.

My wife caved yesterday thanks to our $20 pawn shop DVD player biting the big one. I now have a PS3. Halelujiah. Though I don't see any game purchases in the near future. Maybe a renter. Any suggestions?

The reviews for this game are fantastic and it's on my list. If you say it's way better than the first, that says a lot considering the first was pretty darn good. At least I thought it was.

Through 40 stars now (there are 240) and yeah, it's better than the first. Figuring out where to go is way easier, more linear. Level design is on par or better than the first game. Then they throw in more suits (rock, cloud, a bunch of cool stuff with Yoshi). Oh, and "girlfriend mode" (2P) works better too, though it can feel like you're cheating at times.

What do you like? Sports or shooting?

Red Dead Redemption is awesome. If you like shooters and the Old West. FIFA 10 and/or World Cup are great fun too.

Red Dead sounds like a game you'd buy, not rent, but then again I rented PS2's Final Fantasy X twice and finished it. I downloaded the trial of the MLB game, pretty nice. Might try FIFA.

By MLB, I assume you mean MLB 10: The Show, right (since you have PS3)? That is probably the best baseball game out there. Much better than MLB2K10, which is all we get at Xbox.

Fallout 3 is awesome, but I;d say that's also a buy, merely because there is so much to do and explore in there (much like Red Dead and GTA).

Civilizations: Revelation (CivRev) is also an awesome game, especially if you like Sid Meier-type games.

Ooh, I have Civ for the iPod and am an addict of those games.

Yep, it's The Show. You get four innings of Twins vs. Yankees and I cannot for the life of me get a run off Sabathia. Probably because I'm so used to actually swinging my controller to hit in baseball games now.

If anyone wants to add me my PSN is GomerStraw. Not that you'd be able to play any games with me yet, of course.
