Are they selling the full version of NBA Jam on 360 or just the downloadable parts like they were doing with Live/Elite?

They haven't specified yet. All they've announced so far is that NBA Jam is going out for the Wii on Oct. 5 as planned and Xbox and PS3 will get it "in time for the holidays." No word on if that means the full game like Wii, a stripped down disc or some form of the game in the Xbox Live Arcade.

I've been reading more about this whole thing over the past hour, and what's unfolded with Live/Elite over the past few months is stunning - probably the biggest failure of a licensed sports game project ever.

Here's some good reading on it:

Ah, well I'm not waiting past Oct. 5 so I'll be getting Jam on the Wii.

I'm not sure what to think of the new NBA Jam yet. It certainly has looked cool from the videos, and the developers are saying the right things, but there was such pressure to continually add new, uninteresting crap to the original series. Really, it's best kept as a simple game that just needs roster updates from time to time, so I can't see it as a yearly cash cow for the company.

Unrelated: I'm playing the FF4 sequel on the Wii right now. It's downloadable content, and it's pretty interesting so far, with the caveat that I'm just in the first chapter. There are a surprising amount of good downloadable games for the Wii - I play the Tetris game all the time, especially since you can compete with your friends for the best score.

Does 2K sports still make an NBA game?

BTW, got Halo: Reach today. So far so good.

Yes, it was widely considered to be better than Live/Elite. And this year Jordan is on the cover with a bunch of Jordan minigames/career objective stuff. Should be very cool.

That's what I thought. I used to always get the college 2K sports game over the EA every year mainly in part to better graphics and what seemed to be smoother gameplay. I'd like to get the new NBA title by 2K but I just got Halo and I'm sure I'll get the new CoD if the reviews aren't shitty.

You could scoop up this past year's version on the cheap now that the new one is almost out. It'll probably be in the $10 to $25 range once the new game comes out. I've done this in the past with Madden and the college sports games that aren't high priority to me.

FIFA 11 is fantastic, as expected. The new feature that allows you to play as the GK is pretty cool, but requires a lot of doing nothing while waiting on the ball to come to your end of the field.

You could play as the goalie in the last couple of EA NHL games. Definitely very cool.

And you actually see a good amount of action, since it's smaller than a soccer field. I could see it getting a little boring as a soccer goalie, but still an interesting idea.

I'm not very far, just finished the early sniping mission. I keep getting the controls mixed up with MW2 and it's starting to drive me crazy. I need to get my Halo skills back before going online because if it's anything like the original Halo, people are unbelievably good. So far I'm satisfied with the game but not blown away. Hopefully the single player story gets better.
