im still with my ps2 and very happy with it. the games are now dirt cheap and there is a huge collection of quality games i have still not played yet. the latest consoles (ps3 + xbox 360) are way too expensive and seem geared more toward hardcore gamers with huge HD televisions.

That could've been brought to your attention yesterday, right?

I still have my PS2 I got for Christmas about 4 or 5 years ago, but I yearn for a 360. I just wish I could afford it...

Ahhh ... I was click Xbox Live, instead of going to Features.

  5. Got my PS3 and new big screen plasma...one a gift and another a huge drain on my modest reporter's salary.

    Still, couldn't be happier.

I've been playing College Hoops non-stop...St. Francis (Pa.) is a tough place to win, but you gotta start the career somewhere.

Anyway, I'm hardly a big gamer, but seeing sports games in 1080p rivals any videogame moment from my childhood.

Be careful playing games on a plasma. I heard they burn out quicker that way...

I'm quite happy with my PS3. I love being able to play my old PS2 games on it (since I only have one PS3 game for it).

At least you got one while they still made the backwards compatible models.

At the risk of showing my ignorance, here goes. Let's say I go for a 360. I went to Best Buy tonight briefly and saw that there are about 3 different 360s. Which one would be worth getting? Would the arcade be fine?

I like sports games. I'm not going to be playing Halo against some 12-year-old in Alaska.

    Thoughts?

The arcade version doesn't have a hard drive. That was the only drawback that kept me from getting it.

What this means is you're going to have to be a hard drive too, or get a bunch of memory cards (someone with more experience, feel free to correct me). I'd suggest the middle option, the one with the 20G hard drive.

  12. Acc, you'd need the $349 model with the 20GB hard drive.

I've been playing Call of Duty 4 on XBox at an embarrassing rate since drop date in November. I have like 80 multiplayer hours logged so far. The game is the most intense and enjoyable console experience I can imagine. It's absolutely incredible; as good now as it was the minute I began.

    So, yea, I'd recommend it.
