    Boy, where to begin...
If you need another Wiimote, get Wii Play. It's a lot of quick mini games that are kind of fun and it comes with another remote.
Big Brain Academy is a blast to play with your significant other because it really tests your mind. The wife and I have battled back and forth on it for months.
Super Paper Mario is ok if you have a little more time on your hands and you want a story. It's cheesy, but it can suck you in. The wife spent almost three solid days straight playing the game and sleeping.
For something fun, I'd suggest Raving Rabbids or Raving Rabbids 2. There are a lot of fun little games that take advantage of the Wiimote well.
If you don't want complicated or time consumption, there are two games that I'd stay away from.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is a beast! You have to hold the Wiimote perfectly still because it controls the camera. A little twitch and you are suddenly looking at the ceiling when a guy is about to come out and but a bullet in your head.
Also, and it pains me to say this, don't get the Simpsons game. While I love it, the controls took me a full week of real work to get used to and even now I'm still trying to get the intricacies of the special moves down. It's great if you love the show because all the cut scenes are solid and you get a special treat with the storyline and all the call-back jokes and jokes about the gaming industry, but unless you are a die-hard, you will get real angry very quickly.

Hope this helps, I haven't bought a sports game yet because I have heard bad things about them and the motion controls (especially with Madden). I think I'm going to wait for another year to see how things pan out as the game designers start to take full advantage of the system.

  3. re: The YYZ video. I've watched that so many times. Makes me laugh. Best part is when he points to the sky during the long note in the middle.

I do stuff like this when I play songs I completely control -- Cliffs of Dover in particular.

Wow, I thought I was a looser for playing once in a while :D

Speaking of which, I've broken out GTA San Andreas again on the PS2 and have just been roaming the streets, causing mass chaos. I've also been living in the casino, trying to add to my $500,000,000 fortune by playing blackjack, $1 million a hand.

Thanks Roy -- for the recommendations as well as what to avoid that doesn't suit my patience interests. Sounds like Splinter Cell would drive me nuts -- I rented some WWII shooter once and couldn't keep myself from looking at the ground or the sky most of the time.

Rented Big Brain academy, and me and the wife had a blast. I'm sure it will end up in our collection at some point. I bought Resident Evil 4 and have been enjoying that for a few days. Also will probably buy Super Mario Galaxy. The reviews are stellar, the game play looks really fun, and it seems like the kind of thing you can just drop in and out of when you have time.

Damn, forgot about RE:4. That was one of the first that I bought and I freakin loved it! That's why I bought Splinter Cell because I thought it was going to be like that, and boy was I wrong.

And Norm, there is no looser as big as me, I am the charmion. :D

  7. Any thoughts on the Wii Zelda game?

I bought it, played it for about a day, then I put it down. It was just not that fun for me.
However, it was playing pacifier until I got the Simpsons game, so I may have not given it enough of a chance. I may have to revisit it when I get some time to invest in playing.

Well, I made a purchase today. Picked up an XBox 360. Was going to get the elite version with the 20 gig hard drive. Had a hard time finding one. However, a Best Buy near me had the Halo version of the elite (different color unit and a play-and-charge unit included), marked down from 399 to 349. So that's what I got.

Only bought one game today (Tiger Woods 08). Played for a couple of hours and it was fun.

Will probably pick up a couple more games in the near future.

If anyone here plays Call of Duty 4 on the 360, let me know. It'd be nice to team up and kill some people.

Congats on the 360 purchase, that will be the next big thing I buy will be. However, it will be likely a package buy with GTA 4, I'm not a huge Halo fan and I'm to happy playing my Wii to fork over another chunk of cash for a new system.
