Running video games (and consoles) thread

Madden 12 demo released today as the game is pushed back for a Aug. 30 release. Better get all the quirks/rosters done now I suppose.

On a random note, I've suddenly gotten into this weird Japanese show, Game Center CX. If you've ever played Retro Game Challenge for the DS, the game was based on the show. On it, this Japanese stand-up comic is challenged to beat classic games. It's pretty clear he doesn't actually have much skill - he couldn't get through Super Mario 3 in 18ish hours, and even using the 99-life trick in World 1.

However, it's fascinating to watch for some reason, and he does get better in the later seasons. He manages to beat Out Of This World, somehow, and I'm currently watching him try Ninja Gaiden 2.

Bad flashbacks for me.

 

I had the first and second ones, and the furthest I could ever get was to the final stage. I never even saw the final boss in either game.

 

Bought Castle Crashers (finally) on Xbox Live Arcade and have been playing with some friends ... It's pretty fun.

Also, did anyone else here that Battlefield 3 is only in Alpha? This game is supposed to launch in October and it hasn't reached Beta testing yet? That worries me.

But then again, what else do you expect from EA. If Dice had nothing to do with the series, it would be garbage.

 

Bought Minecraft Pocket for my XPeria Play today, pretty cool so far. It's an Alpha build, so it's like Minecraft Classic for those who know the PC title.
Also bought Battlefield BC 2 for my Play, and it's a little tough to play. The touch pads that act like analog sticks aren't very responsive and make some things tough to manage. Overall though I love this phone/gaming system.

 

I played Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for a bit the past two days. I like it, but it made a gimmicky game ever more gimmicky and over the top, plus removed a bunch of characters. I'll just stick with the Dreamcast version of 2. I just can't wrap my head around all of the super air combo deluxe crap in the game, plus it removed a bunch of awesome characters (Cable! Mega Man!) for people I honestly don't care at all about.

 

I bought Minecraft when it was still in Alpha for PC. I'm hoping Notch lets PC users in on the Xbox 360 Beta.

And I would imagine BC2 is really tough on a phone. It's one of my favorites on Xbox Live ... definitely beats Call of Duty multiplayer.

Yea, that's pretty jacked up. I've had a couple of friends trade in broken consoles there by getting them to work temporarily in front of the clerk who makes the buy before crapping out again, so I guess they got even.

 

I hate GameStop with a passion.
