Just played Guitar Hero III for the Wii last night and dear lord, I am hooked. Now if only I could find it in a store...

For those looking for Wii recommendations, Madden 07 and 08 are actually not bad - but you need to spend time to learn brand new controls, which can be a bit taxing. Tiger Woods 08 is great in my opinion as well. What I really want is a good tennis game - Wii Sports tennis just doesn't cut it anymore.

Mario Galaxy is incredible. I have Super Paper Mario as well and it completely blows it away.

Apparently Metroid Prime is solid, and there's a game called Zack and Wiki that I've heard a lot of good things about, and there's Trauma Center and Trauma Center: New Blood, which are pseudo-realistic updates of Operation and apparently tremendous as well.

I killed several hours of time off over the past week playing Assassin's Creed on the PS3. Normally I'm into sports games and not a whole lot else. A lot of these sprawling, story-driven adventure games end up being more complicated than what I have patience for. But I've really gotten into this one. It's got story-telling on more than one level and the controls aren't too tough, though it took some getting used to. It's a little repetitive, but really engrossing, and I think it hints at what the next-gen consoles are capable of. It's like a good TV series -- you want to keep going because you want to know what happens next. If Sony can ever get its act together and put out a God of War for the PS3, it's going to rock.

I've been debating about picking up Assassin's Creed. The reviews have been mixed. Plus knowing it's the opening third of a triology of games kind of dampened my interest.

I didn't know for sure that it was the first in a series, but I'd heard rumors. And even though I'm not even halfway through the game, it's obvious there are lots of ways they can go with it. Even if it's part of a series, you're probably looking at another year at least before the next one comes along. I was surprised at how easy it was to get the hang of and how interested I was in the story. And for a game that requires a little stealth, it's not as slow and boring as you'd expect. But the missions are definitely repetitive.

Am I the only one who's still happy kicking ass and taking names on NCAA Football 06 on PS2? :D

Yes. Though, if it makes you feel any better, I was doing the same on '07 for the PS2 until I sold it all to get my Wii.

  8. Call of Duty 4 on the 360 has been a mess for more than a week now. The influx of new players from Xmas apparently has taxed the Live servers beyond their limits. It's a real bummer.

I played GH3 on a wii last weekend and it was better than on my 360. I wish I had a wii. It's like hitting the powerball to find one -- 13 months after release. Weird.

Have Wii prices fallen since Christmas?

Have a chance to buy a couple, and am wondering if I could unload them for a bit of a profit.

I figured the post-Christmas rush along with Gamestop offering sure-fire rainchecks for them by the end of the month would lower the market price.

Michael Beasley is a monster on the 2K hoops game. My younger brother (junior in college) is averaging 40+ in the 10-minute half XBOX live games with him.

Have yet to lose a game at home with Louisville (for some reason, Sosa is apparently an All-American based only on his NCAA Tourney game against Texas A&M) because the Cards are unconcious from downtown at Freedom Hall.

I'm decent at Halo 2, but I am struggling with Halo 3. I think it has to do with the controller being touchier, as I played Halo 2 on the 360 the other team and I sucked horribly in multiplayer. But when I played the same crew in Halo 2 on the regular XBOX, I fared much better.

I would think the demand might die down a little. People are still going to want them, but without the deadline pressure of Christmas, they may be a bit more willing to wait for them to come to stores.

Especially since it's rumored that inventory will start to rise around Valentine's Day.

I went to Best Buy tonight. CoD4 is empty. So is Elder Scrolls and even Assassin's Creed.

Back to playing FIFA for me.
