Running video games (and consoles) thread

Word is Skyrim has 300+ hours of gametime before the DLC even comes into play... I may not buy another game for a year

 

I'm trying to decide if I should ask for it (along with Arkham City) for Christmas. I never beat Oblivion ... actually didn't get that far into it, even though I own the game and enjoyed what I played. I love what Bethesda does and I've gotten about 98 percent completion on Fallout 3 (include all of the expansions). I just get so wrapped up in the story. I liked New Vegas, too, but only rented it. Even though it was basically the same thing, I liked the western setting better than DC.

 

So far, MW3 multiplayer is horrible, IMO. I shoot someone six times, they turn around and pop me once and I die. It was getting so bad, I knifed a guy in the back, ran off a few steps and then got shot, but my knife kill never counted.

So I decided to go back in theater and show an example of how hit markers aren't registering. Sure enough, on the server side, I never even started knifing that guy, so of course it didn't register.

If this game can fix the client/server sync, it might be pretty good.

 

Agree totally on Fallout 3, best game I have ever played. New Vegas I finished, but the bugs drove me nuts. I finished all of Oblivion except for basically all the Oblivion gates (yeah that's the whole main story), but I loved that. I have Skyrim next to me at my desk right now, I can't wait to be done with this shift and get into it.

 

I started playing Oblivion again. It's just a more nerdy Fallout, really. I like it. Figure I'll beat it before I get Skyrim. A couple of my friends are thinking about taking MW3 back to get Skyrim.

 

I am not having any issues like you are Matt, with MW3. Occasional lag, but it clears up quickly.

And I preordered Skyrim. Will get it on THursday.

I'm stoked and a bit scared that I won't come out of the room for 2 days after I get the game.

 

My game has been pretty-much lag free (and I'm on PS3). I have had a few games go out because of server issues, but that's pretty much it. There are millions of people playing too.

 

Skrim is so AMAZING!!!!!!!! It takes all the fun stuff from Oblivion, mixes in all the great gameplay elements from Fallout (lockpicking is exactly the same as FO3, much better then the lockpicking in Oblivion), and creates a very nice experience. Oddly lagged a bit on PS3 at parts, but it was because when you walk outside it loads EVERYTHING, leading to a bit of lag in such a huge space. Got about 2-3 hours in and want to play again as soon as I put down the controller. The experience tops Oblivion by leaps and bounds.

 

No lag on my end at all. #MW3
