I don't play online ... so the "career" mode is the same as franchise in the old games? I'm pretty simple. I like taking teams and building them over X amount of years. I don't care about playing online.

I was debating Madden 13 vs. Madden 12. The last one I have is 11, and while I enjoy it, it's time for an upgrade. I've also heard the presentation on 12 was actually better and 13 took a step back in that regard.

Same here, Cosmo. I don't like playing online against random people. I'll play against people I know or semi-know (SportsJournalists.com NCAA dynasty).

I haven't bought Madden in 4-5 years now. Was thinking about getting 13 or possibly going with 12 (since the price will drop now) as well.

I'm not sure about the career mode in '13. From what I've read, if you play offline, it is similar to franchise, in that you can either play as one player or a GM. If you play as GM, I believe you play every game, but again not sure about that.

If you choose to have your career as a player, you only get to control that player. If you choose a coach, you control everything. So it hasn't changed much, if that's what you're into.

I played '12. It was exactly the same as '11. You paid $60 for a roster update.

This year's game is much better. It plays better. There are no more super LBs who pick off every pass. The presentation is a little worse than last year, but the visuals are much better.

Seriously, go online and compare the reviews. Last year's game was bashed. This year's has been getting positive reviews.

Except you can't do what most people have been doing since Madden '94 - two player (or more) offline franchise mode or fantasy draft. Sucks. Sure the gameplay and engine is better, but the whole reason I get this game is do about 15-17 seasons with my friend, play in the same division and just dominate. Can't even do that.

Thanks for the reviews ... will probably go ahead and get '13.

BTW, All-Madden difficulty feels like All-Pro from '12. Maybe it's just the faster engine. Still going to return this. Hell, cosmo, I'll sell you my copy shipped for $45.

If you play by yourself and don't play with friends offline, then you're fine. Game play, speed, and engine are drastically improved. All-Madden seems too easy, but I'll mess around with the sliders if I decide to keep it.

That's all I do. Call me a dark ages video games guy, but I'm a huge fan of playing dynasties in NCAA, franchises in Madden and Be A GM in NHL. Most of the friends I could play online with are XBox people anyway and I'm on PS3.

In reading the Operation Sports threads on the game, this version seems incredibly polarizing. Some players are saying it's the best Madden they've ever played. Others have said it's a disaster and even All-Madden is way too easy. I really liked 11, and I thought the introduction of the gameflow playcalling was really cool. It sounds like for my purposes, that 13 is an upgrade.

I'm probably not getting NHL 13 just because it doesn't sound like a major, major upgrade over NHL 12. The only other sports game I'm considering is the new NBA 2K game, if only because I've heard incredible things about that franchise and I haven't owned an NBA game in ages.

I hardly play Madden online too and when I do, people quit because they're shocked Ryan Fitzpatrick is torching their Packer D (no surprise really) with 300 yards in the first half.

I love going through tons of seasons on offline franchise mode. But they took out the option for two player offline. Which is why I buy this - me and a friend. Oh well. Maybe a patch will come out.

I can't decide whether to get this game or not. Reviews are inconsistent at best. Madden 13 has gotten torched on every site I've read.

Speaking of Madden 12, what are the ideal sliders for defensive CPU reaction time? I'm getting fed up with having passes that should easily be caught knocked down or picked off by someone who's not even looking for the damn ball. I've got reaction at 35 now, and it's still insanely hard to throw the ball. And I'm playing as the Packers ... Rodgers is rated 98 on the game, but still has a shitload of passes batted down that should have been caught.

If they would just make a patch for a two player co-op franchise/career/whatever, it'd be fine.

IGN raved over it ... gave it a nine out of 10. Like I said, the user reviews on OS are completely polarizing. It's either the best game ever or a total piece of shit. Most of the latter opinions seem to come from people who are huge online players, though. I bought it today. I'll post my impressions.

I've never done the two-player co-op franchise. Never even realize the option existed, actually.
