Little Big Planet for PS Vita is really fun, brings me back to the first game and how much I loved it.

I agree. It was very interesting to say the least.

This annoys me quite a bit about newer games as well. On one hand, it's nice that they're able to patch over errors, whereas in the past you'd just be stuck with a shitty new game. On the other hand, I think there is more of an emphasis on pushing the product out the door instead of doing enough playtesting for a 40+ hour game, and then just patching it after the fact. Unless it's a game I'm really hot in the pants for, like Mass Effect 3, I tend to just wait a couple months or GameFly, and this is part of the reason why.

    Yes.
Even though in NCAA, it advertises importing players into Madden.

Finally getting a PS3 this week.

No, this is not 2007. Just couldn't justify price tag and such before. But now will use it for work-related stuff (you read that right), and plan to pick up some of the cheaper "classic" games like Metal gear, Arkham Asylum, Red Dead redemption, etc.

Any other suggestions? And is there anywhere that actually will discount the older ones this week?

Most of those games you mentioned are in the $10 to $20 range at this point. Although a PS3 doesn't have Mass Effect 1, ME2 is worth checking out, since it's also in the $10 to $20 range now.

The PS3 is underrated as a work device, heh. I use it as a media server all the time, to stream stuff from my computer on to my TV easily.

RDR is fantastic. Fallout 3 will also consume years of your life (as will Skyrim, but that one might still be relatively expensive).

I felt like I need some mindless fun that gave me unearned feelings of accomplishment in my life, seeing as how the things I'm actually trying to accomplish are unimaginably hard and possibly futile.

So World of Warcraft, I return to you. And oh look, there's an expansion coming out tonight.

RDR is awesome. I hope there's another Red Dead game in the works.

Also, FIFA is out this week. It's been a couple of years since I bought one, I'm not holding back this year.

World Cup 2010 will be the first soccer game I buy. Have all since 1998, so may as well.

How much has the FIFA series advanced since the 2008 game?

I got that one probably six months after it was out fairly cheaply. I'm not a huge soccer fan, but know the basics. I actually like playing video game soccer more than watching real soccer.

I didn't get NCAA, Madden or NHL this year because they either weren't that much of a change from previous years or the reviews weren't that good.

I gave in and bought NCAA a few weeks ago. Some of the bad reviews are warranted, but some of them are way off base on this game.
