Not super overwhelmed w the Xbox One I must say. Neither the PS4 or Xbox One will be backwards compatible, something w the new chips is what I read. I always have Xbox Live so that doesn't bother me. I'm more concerned about how you're supposed to borrow a friend's game, play it, and give it back. Seems like you can't do that. How are we going to buy used games or use gamefly? I'm sure something will come out by E3 about all of that.

I'll probably stick w the 360 until Summer or the Fall to figure out what I want to do.

I have no desire to buy a new system. I am looking forward to getting our online dynasty going again, though.

I'm definitely more the demographic Nintendo is going for. I'm not a hardcore gamer that's going to shell out for online multiplayer or downloadable extras. I sure as hell am not dishing out more than $300 on the console itself. I'm not worth a damn at those war games like Call of Duty or the others. I'm looking for a far less intense experience with my leisure time. I thought about switching, even getting a current-gen console, but I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much.

I'm also in that demographic. I like some of the games Xbox or Playstation have but with family and other commitments I just can't find the time to get through the games or focus on them like I once could. And I usually go all in with games I really like. The Wii offers a chance to have some mindless fun and sort of keep that video game interest alive -- as well as playing old games from the past and plenty of things that interest the kids.

I'm also a Mario fan and would love to get the WiiU just for the new Mario games. But they didn't change/enhance the new one enough for me to justify getting a new console for just a couple of games, and for right now that's all it would be. I'm guessing I'm out of the updated video game system realm for a bit.

Count me in as another member of this group. I have a Wii, which is used primarily for the old Virtual Console games I've downloaded. Other than that, I'm still enjoying the hell out of six- and seven-year-old games for my PS2 (fast approaching its 10th birthday) and original XBox. At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, I really think that was the pinnacle of console gaming.

The last generation of games was too heavy on the online play and DLC. I like games where I can escape into my own little world for a while.
Plus, this past generation is going to have no staying power whatsoever, outside of a few games like Bioshock and the franchise mode of sports games. Is anyone still playing the older versions of Call of Duty? Once we get far enough along into the PS4 and XBox One generation of consoles, and the servers for those games are switched off, what's left besides a mediocre single-person game?
I can pop in a game like "GTA: San Andreas" and spend an entire summer playing it. One of the best compliments you can give to the old NES is that people were eager to drop a few bucks on its classic games -- and still can get hours of entertainment from them -- 20 years later.
Ten years from now, how many games will you be able to say that about from the PS3/360 generation?

Re: The Wii debate I've started here, I think the issue I'd have with Nintendo's philosophy is this - The Wii U doesn't really seem like much of an update to me. I have a Wii, and I'm generally a sucker for anything fun and new when it comes to game - I mean, I own a Vita - but there hasn't really been anything out on the Wii U that has caught my eye. I can see the appeal if you have kids, but I also think most of the non-middle school tots would be just as happy with a $50 Wii.

I do think the library of the PS3/360 is more vibrant than you guys are giving it credit for, but I agree that the "noise" on the systems is mostly centered on dude-bro-games like Gears of War, Halo and Modern Warfare / Call of Duty game du jour. With all of that stuff dominating a lot of the online discussion, you can overlook stuff like Journey, a neat and pastoral game, and things like The Walking Dead Telltale game and a slew of JRPGs and other weird neat games from Atlus and indie developers.

Definitely interested in getting our Xbox online dynasty going again.

I'm in for the new NCAA. That and GTA V will probably be the last two games I get for the 360. Not sure if I'll be getting the new system, but as of right now, I probably won't.

As far as the dynasty, not sure how many of the old crew are still around here.

So let's take a head count: Xbox NCAA 14 online dynasty? Who's in?

    Myself and Jake. Who else?

I was a Nintendo geek through in through until one of my friends bought the original xbox. I was blown away by Halo and had to have it. Needless to say, I LOVE Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and Goldeneye was a huge part of my high school days. The only Nintendo consoles I do not have are the Wiis and Gamecube. But a friend had it and seriously played it everyday, so it sort of felt like mine.

As for NCAA, maybe. I plan on buying two 360 games this year and right now it's Madden (finally coop offline franchises, fantasy draft is back), CoD, and maybe NHL.

After reading about the PS4 and Xbox One, I'm not terribly excited. I think I may stick with what I've got. The Steam Box, sounds like it may be cool, but it sounds too much like a set top PC, being upgradable and all. I want something I can just throw games in and play, not something I have to upgrade every 6 months to play a AAA title.
That's what I loved about consoles. Online games are ok, but most of the time I just want to play alone in single player rather than getting my ass kicked by some pimple-faced 14-year-old who never leaves his house. The ones just dedicated to online gaming have little to no interest to me, except the occasional sports games

But as someone who's only had a Wii, the Wii U is enough of an update that I get more robust games like Arkham City and a unique way to play it with the GamePad. But it's not so much of an update that it's completely incompatible with the previous version. I'm not buying the same games all over again, and I don't want to keep two consoles on the shelf.

Plus, Mario. I just love Mario games.

I wasn't part of the old crew. But I'd likely be down for some 14. I desperately need to get a new NCAA game anyway (Still playing 10)
