If I remember right, I don't think there was an option to change the quarters. I think all online dynasties are five minute quarters.

All-American with a few slider adjustments seemed to work fairly well last time.

As far as playbooks, you should be able to use whatever playbook you want. If you're Western Michigan and want to use Alabama's playbook, I don't see a problem with that. Custom playbook would be the same thing. I look at it this way. You're the coach. You can use whatever plays you want.

I think 85 and below is a pretty good number to stay at. If you go any lower, it makes it much more difficult to recruit 5A and 4A players.

For the non-conference games, I'm going to try to schedule user teams that are similar in ratings after we get them all sorted out. Especially in the first year, it wouldn't be great to have a 84 user team go against a 75.

Sounds good to me. Do we want to say have your team finalized by the end of the weekend so we can start the league next week or is that too soon?

The gameplay footage of GTAV released the other day is pretty insane. I might spend more time scuba diving and playing golf, tennis and cycling than the actual missions.

I haven't played this year's yet, but with 12 and 13, it was always more efficient to basically focus on 10 players at a time, spending an hour on each, as opposed to trying to recruiting the whole board (30 or 35 players) at once. I usually set a rough focus on any prospects within two stars of my school's prestige - i.e. if I was a one-star school, the most I would chase after was a three-star player - but it was possible to get even better recruits than that, especially if you were in an area with a large talent base (Texas, California, Florida).

In all my years of playing this game, I have never played as a team with less than a five- or six-star rating without doing some modifying of the rosters (I haven't played online at all in that time, so I don't see it as a big deal). I hate spending years getting my ass kicked; I'd rather win right off the bat and keep building in the future.

After a year or two of playing every game for my team, I normally go into "general manager" mode. Like, I'll try to win or improve my team's prestige without playing the games myself, just recruiting and simming. I used to try doing it with games like Madden and NBA Live too, but I found that the simming wouldn't have much correlation to wins. (i.e. Your overall rating in the games didn't seem to have much effect on your win-loss record.) Most of the underlying stats engines have done a better job of this as the years have gone by though.

See, I love the challenge of the crappy teams. I usually take a Sunbelt team, put them in the SEC and see how well I can do.

    The good about NCAA 14:
    • The new halftime commentary with Reece Davis and David Pollack is a nice feature.
    • The overall presentation is excellent. I like the new menus, especially the game pause menu. It's easier to use for sure.
    • The new option game is a lot more fun if that's what you like. I'm not an option guy, personally, but I enjoyed using it in practice mode. Maybe I'll give it the old, no pun intended, college try with another dynasty.
    • South Alabama! Good to see the other of my two alma maters in the game. Ladd-Peebles is well-rendered and the Jags' uniforms look very spiffy.
    • The new power moves and devastating stiff arm in the running game make a big, physical back a lot of fun in the open field. I love crushing DBs at the second and third level.
    • The passing interface is improved. It's a lot easier to put your WR or TE or RB into the area where you're going to put the ball. No more receivers stopping and watching.
    • The recruiting for dynasty mode is much less time-intensive and makes a little more sense. I like how you don't have to update the amount of time you spend with each recruit every week. I'm only 2 weeks into my dynasty, so I can't comment on how much better recruiting is, but I like the format much better.

    The bad:
    • Some of the replay animations appear choppy at times. There are also the strange ghost hands that go through players, which is kind of unnerving.

You want in for the online dynasty we're doing? There are spots available.

    That's a good timetable.

I can send out the invites when I form the league on Monday. We can give everyone a couple days to get preseason stuff done and get going with games by Wednesday or Thursday.

I'll repost the teams people have decided on so it doesn't get buried.
Five firm commitments. StormSurge is definitely in, but isn't sure when he's getting the game. Not sure if Rumpleforeskin is in or not.

Named rosters are starting to come out now. PastaPadre (which we've used in the past, I think) is out. He just puts names to the numbers and doesn't make corrections (transfers, ineligibles, additions, etc). I'll keep an eye out if any other possibilities come out between now and when I form it.
