I'm fine with waiting however long - I still haven't bought the game, actually, but because I've played the last couple I'm assuming it's not going to be a huge adjustment period. (I'm also still unemployed and not through my severance package, so I'm assuming my time won't be at a premium anytime soon.)

One tip from the Xboxers: the one bad thing about having everyone in one conference is that you never get a chance to have a user vs. user championship game. We actually had one or two of those and it was a hell of a game. I forget who Jake beat.

This game is really fun to play.

A couple observations based on the few days I've had NCAA 14:

    1. There are a lot of upsets. I like that but it can get a little ridiculous. I do like the fact that a team will start 8-0 then lose one, which sends them into a tailspin.

    2. Recruiting is rather tough. Not a fan of just one week at the end of the season.

I'm really enjoying the Brave New World upgrade. You can now win the game via trade routes and having your culture dominate the world.

Haven't picked up BNW yet. Just got Gods & Kings maybe 2 months ago, so that's still fairly new for me. Figure I'll put some more QT into G&K, then buy BNW maybe in the winter.

G&K really changed the dynamic of the game for me. A lot fewer wars than previous Civs, especially ones started by the AI.

Re: Civ4 and 5, I actually like to play without military units at all. For whatever reason, it's more pleasurable to me to have a nice, long game where I can just focus on the cultural development and population expansion. I've only played one full game of Civ5 before my computer needed to be sent out for repairs, but Civ4 I've probably played about 100 hours the past two years, ever since it went free-to-play for GameFly users.

Only one I've tried so far is Saints Row. 25 percent done after two days. You can tell I've had a lot of free time lately. I'll probably try the rest Wednesday.

Allow me to name drop: One of my best friends is a design lead on all the Civ expansions.

He's a helluva game designer. I haven't picked up Brave New World yet, but if it's got Ed Beach's name on it, you can be certain it's great.
