For anyone struggling with the Ultimate Team stuff on NCAA 14, remember that you get a gold-level card (ratings around a 78 to 85) whenever you get a gold in a Nike skills drill. If you use sliders and the speed threshold setting correctly (0 while on offense, 100 while on defense), you can normally get a gold in 5 to 10 minutes for each drill. The only one really tripping me up so far is the pass leading one, and only because it requires a 10-for-10 performance and my WR drop passes, even when wide open.

yeah, I think I actually did that one, but in five tries thanks to drops.

    Re: Civ 5

I meant to post this previously, then was reminded of it last night while playing. Submarines are supposed to be invisible to all ships but destroyers, right? So last night I'm in a war against Rome, which still has frigates and privateers. I'm sending a couple of subs over to sink some embarked land units and am cruising past two frigates in open ocean. I don't fire at them, but they open up on one of my subs.

Also, too, why does it start a war to have a sub enter the home waters of another nation? They shouldn't know it's there unless a destroyer or other sub spots them.

I'm guessing that they have some kind of detection system? That's the way most of those games play out.

Were you in shallow water (the stuff triremes can navigate?). Submarines are only "submerged" and therefore invisible in deep water.

It also helps if you switch your favorite team around, since that's the one used for the skills drills. I had Idaho at first, but the drops ended when I switched to USC. That made the defensive drills tough though, so I switched to Alabama for them.

I might not have been. I never really pay that close attention to the water depth since I don't really send out ships until they can cover it all.

One of the things I liked the most about Civ5 was it ditching the transports. It makes island maps and other different landform maps a lot more viable to play.

One thing I think they could add for future editions is to offer more variations on the timeline. Like, being able to start in 7 million BC, and seeing the land change as you play. I'm sure there are mods that do this, but it would be nice to have it as one of the random options you can get when playing a game.

It would totally piss me off if "land changes" took my citites form great locations to being in crappy locations.

Just me, or everyone else with the game - The play and game clock for random games of NCAA 14 will just not appear. Usually, it'll magically reappear for me as I'm playing the game, but right now in an offline dynasty game, it isn't. And, by the way, it's the damn national championship game! Good times, good times.

I've noticed that as well, but it always fixes itself.
