Just for that, you're going in the starting lineup, benchwarmer

I don't know... benchwarmer was kicking my ass yesterday.

Okay, here's how the tournament will work. I'll randomly pair people up and it's their responsibility to find a time to play and announce the winner. Find yourselves online and play VS mode on whatever tracks you want. First to five wins.

Round 1 of the SportsJournalists.com MarioKart Wii Golden Mushroom Open:

    Hammer Pants vs. Batman
    Gomer vs. Stormsurge
    EmbassyRow vs. Rusty
    HoopsMcCann vs. Benchwarmer

Round 2 will commence once Round 1 is complete.

At some point, the old football games should be re-released on one monster CD for PS2: Ten-Yard Fight, John Elway's QB, Play-Action Football and, of course, Tecmo Super Bowl.

I was playing the new Madden and even the Cardinals put my ass on blast. I think I'd have an easier time actually being a QB in an NFL training camp, making progressive reads, etc., than being able to avoid tossing 10 picks a game in Madden.

They do have Tecmo Super Bowl in one of those arcade classics games, where you get about 10 games from the olden days.

They did have it for the original Xbox, not sure about PS2.

I rolled two more 300 games on Wii bowling last night, leaving me with three in the last two days.

I never thought I'd say this, but it's easy now :D

Just noticed this about MLB2k8. In San Fran, the list of homer run kings on the right field wall does not contain Barry Bonds' name anywhere. Also, in the stats page or league records, his name does not appear for most home runs in a season. In fact there is no listing for that category, nor is there for one for most career home runs.

That's probably because he didn't give permission for his name or likeness to be used.

In one of the earlier games (forget which one), Bonds was just SF player No. 25. But it was obvious it was supposed to be Bonds.

  8. Bonds, at least in recent years, wasn't a part, by his own choice, of the licensing agreements that went to those video games.

I haven't bought an MLB game in a few years, but I remember in the most recent one I did have that there was some generically named outfielder with great power playing LF for the Giants. It's similar to Michael Jordan, and a few other NBA stars, not being on games like NBA Live in the late 90s.

Could be, I just found it funny that they didn't even have a fake name up there on the list. I guess when I finish my season in the next weeks or so I'll find out if Soriano or Lee will be the top one on the list.

This being the first baseball game I've bought since 2001 would explain why I didn't realize that.

Um, yeah, GTA4 is pretty nasty. I got it for Dr. J on Thursday and I plan on spending all day Sunday playing while he's at work.

I was actually thinking of doing the same thing.

I really know nothing about the PS3, though, as far as the HD stuff goes. Fill me in once you get it hooked up if you don't mind, because I'd like to do the same thing.

I'm one of those GTA fanatics who has to get 100% completion on every incarnation, so I guess I know what my summer vacation will be spent on this year.
