Just played a game of NCAA 09 with sliders adjusted to help the offense, and... I'm convinced the sliders do nothing. Both teams had negative rushing yardage, fewer than 150 passing AND SIX TURNOVERS EACH!!! I don't know what the record is for total turnovers in a game, but that's got to be up there. Seemed like every pass was either dropped or intercepted, and every run was stuffed for a loss or fumbled.

I want to like this game. I had been playing NCAA 03 for years, and the graphics on this are better, the gameplay feels smoother. But there's just way too much defense, to the point that it's not fun to play when you have to punt 10 times a game with five turnovers.

I found these slider settings on a gaming message board. They seem to work ok for me.

    All-American setting

    QB Accuracy 50 45
    Pass Block 0 0
    WR Catch 0 0
    RB Ability 40 40
    Run Blocking 90 90

    Defense
    Awareness 0 100
    Knockdowns 100 100
    Interceptions 40 50
    Break Block 50 100
    Tackling 25 50

    Special Teams
    FG Power 20 20
    FG Accuracy 50 50
    Punt Power 50 50
    Punt Accuracy 70 70
    KO Power 75 75

Brian Brohm led my team to a wildcard win on the road! NFC offensive rookie of the year. Fantasy drafts are so much fun.

NHL '09 is the absolute shit.

Chagrined I don't have more time to play it. It is one of those games you go to bed thinking about and wake up doing the same.

What are the big games coming out this X-mas season? Anybody have any idea on any upcoming Zelda titles? It's been two years since the last one, and if I had my way, there'd be a new one every few months.

I finished my first season on dynasty as Marshall in NCAA 09. Went 12-1, lost in Fiesta Bowl to Texas Tech in a game where I committed nine (yes, NINE) turnovers, and still only lost 14-10. Over the season, I led the NCAA in turnovers and turnovers forced, dropped passes, times sacked and sacks. I only played one game all season in which there were not double-digit turnovers, and that was the opener against a I-AA team. And that's after I pushed the slider for interceptions to 0 and RB ability to 99 to prevent fumbling, plus turning up every offensive slider some. And I can get a sack on just about any pass play. One DE had 30+ sacks, the other had 20+ and I had seven shutouts, including a 2-0 win.

My verdict on the game: Very fun, challenging, good graphics, but horribly unrealistic and far too slanted in favor of defense. Regret picking it instead of Madden, but I'm not getting both and it's too late to return 09.

I haven't got Madden yet, but I probably will at some point.

So should I hang on to 06 for as long as possible?

Just haven't been all that smitten with 07, 08 or 09, although the latter looks fucking sweet in HD on 360.

    Gotta love this:
Brian Brohm starts off as a 72 overall rating. Two years as my starter and extensive training he now sits at a 90 overall with this being his third season for me at the helm.

I'm almost the opposite. I'm pretty good on offense, both passing and running (although I do throw a good amount of interceptions). I can stop the run, but struggle stopping the passing game. I'll give up a lot of yards, but I also get a lot of interceptions. My one CB has 10 and about three TDs. My other one has 5 or 6, while my safety has 5. Even my linebackers have a couple.

But I've been in more shootouts than low scoring games. I average about 40 points and give up about 20-25, although I have had a couple 45-40 games.

I'm 10-1 with Rutgers going into my last game of the first season. My one loss was to UConn. I lost my top RB halfway through, so I've had to throw more than I would like.

  11. What are the thoughts on Rock Band 2?

I was a drummer in my younger days, so I'm usually on the drums when me and my friends get together to play -- mostly because no one else in the group can play them.

The new songs definitely seem to be more difficult. Tried "Painkiller" by Priest. It kicked my ass. On medium. And I can get through almost everything else in the game on Hard or Excellent.

I'm waiting for Guitar Hero's latest foray into the field. I'm OK with the guitar on hard songs, so I want to see if the drums might be a bit easier or if I'm in for a exercise in futility. One thing's for sure Metallica's Trapped Under Ice should be an incredibly frustrating experience.
