I love the 2k NBA series, it is light years ahead of NBA Live and I was so disappointed when they didn't make college hoops 2k9, but I am wondering how good their baseball game will be.

The demo is available on Xbox Live. It's not horrible, but tough to tell since it's obviously a neutered version.

I still have too much to do on 2K8, so I won't be dropping the money on 2K9. I may pick up NBA 2K9 though.

One of the guys I work with loves NBA 2K9, he was raving about how it was so great to play a video game on the highest level of difficulty and have it be a challenge.

I picked up the PS3/2 component cables with the blue and green connections, and you're right, they make a huge difference. Before, playing the NCAA basketball 09 game, the free-throw meter was indecipherable, and I probably lost four or five games because I couldn't figure out when to release the damn button.

With the cables, the line is clear and perfectly viewable. And now I'm in the NCAA tournament. Thanks cables!

  5. Here's one thing they've done to improve it: you can upload your own music to the game and have the players walk to the batter's box pumping whatever tune you want through the PA system.

    It's a pretty cool feature.

I'm pretty sure you can do it with MLB 2K9. Just load the music onto your hard drive.

You can also record cheers or jeers for specific players. From Game Informer Magazine ...

I'm in the mode of stockpiling used last-gen games. Stuff like Knights of the Old Republic for the original XBox, X-Men Legends, even some sports games from 2006 and 2007, you can snap up for under $15 now. Most of the time, for under $10. It might be a while before I get around to playing them (I bought KOTOR around Christmas and still haven't played it), but when they're gone they're gone. Better to have them than not.

So I haven't checked in here in awhile. I saw some good reviews for the latest in the NHL series... anyone here have experience with it?

The last version I bought - and it's been several years - had the greatest soundtrack ever: Sweetness from Jimmy Eat World, No One Knows from Queens of the Stone Age and Pitiful from Blindside. I downloaded the first two, just so I'd have the (mostly) complete collection.

And if I'm going to get a new game, it has to be before the furlough shows up in my paycheck.

I've heard great things about NHL 09, especially the online portion. You can play just one player & be part of a team. It's too bad we couldn't get enough us to form a team a la NCAA Football.
