    Absolutely loved watching Borg but hated his end game.

    When faced with adversity, he up and walked away. Without a single U.S. Open title to his name. Of the top 20 Grand Slam winners, he's the only one --- other than 19th century William Renshaw --- to fail to win the U.S. Open.

    Borg was only in his mid-20s when he retired, right?

    IIRC, he didn't suddenly announce he was quitting. He took sort of a sabbatical, watched for a while and then decided not to come back. How much of that had to do with the McEnroe rivalry, and possibly his own doubts as to whether he could stay No. 1 against the younger serve-and-volleyer, who knows?
