I'm with Spinning. I can't see Gold going to the pay window this year. His game has been disected, plus everybody will be gunning for him (pros and internet jockeys). If he makes it past the lunch break on day one, I'll be shocked.

    Screw Gold. He's a gamesmanship artist . . . a tabletalking cutie who deserves to have it shoved up his . . . .

Looks like there's about 32 players left in the "new" main event, the $50,000 HORSE.

Lots of greats still around, with Negreanu recently taking the chip lead at $1.2 million chips.

Astoundingly, Gabe Kaplan is third in chips at $1.05 million. You've also got Matusow, Raymer, Hellmuth, Juanda, Elezra, Leonidas and Seed still in with a chance.

    Geez, Murderer's Row there.

Didn't have time to get into this pool, so it'll be interesting to see how CI's algorithmic/rocket science scoring plays out.

I have to say, how impressive is Kaplan?

He showed he's got some serious chops on High Stakes Poker when he sat in, but this is really impressive.

I agree, but serious chops? He played like 6 hands on High Stakes. It's been awhile, but didn't he basically only win one hand, a huge, and what I thought was fairly obvious, bluff?

It would be good TV, at least, for Kaplan to be at the final table.

Looks like there's 21 guys left. Hopefully Negreanu can make a comeback and get to the final table.

Greg Raymer is still in it. If he can win this event, I think he'd clearly stamp himself as one of the top 15 or 20 players in the game. Winning a Main Event in the post-Moneymaker era and the $50,000 HORSE would be quite a daily double.

I'll look forward to seeing that on TV. Deeb is solid and not a clown.

Met Deeb last year in Vegas, during the WSOP. He was at the bar and I went over to say hello, get an autograph for my brother (who collects them). He asked me to sit down, offered to buy a drink. He was genuinely a nice guy. Glad to see him get some just desserts.

As for Kaplan, that guy is underrated as a poker player. He's no joke.
